The length has nothing to do, 2 different segments. It’s a 4er territory.

BMW tried to go upmarket but it didn’t go well for the 8er. There is more risk playing in higher segements than in the lower. That’s why it was a flop.

Mercedes indeed cheaped out, but in that lower segment they will surelly screw some sales from that ICE arch where it’s still possible until the complete transition is done. At the end it’s just a C-E-Coupe merge, nothing that goes beyond a CLS. The compromise can be forgiven easier than at S-Coupe level.
Your analysis is yours, I respect it but I don't agree, I think you're wrong.

I don't like that you always look for an excuse to denigrate the sales of BMW's, the 8 series is not a flop, it never was with averages of 25,000 and 20,000 units per year, let's stop saying things that aren't, I think it's not too much to ask, and the figures are available for your review.

1 cm difference is no coincidence, Mercedes "disguises" a car for a lower segment, appealing to eat sales from two segments looking for greater profitability, as I said before I think that to appreciate what they did here you will have to see it IRL, the size that It has is drastically important if it's a hollow shell of a big C coupe or does its job of standing up to an 8 coupe with some dignity, I have no idea what the pricing strategy is which will also be key for the CLE.... .

Btw, do not lie saying that I publish incorrect or false numbers at "several" times, it is not necessary, LESS without presenting evidence that you obviously do not post because they do not exist, we can all make a mistake from time to time, it does not have to be on purpose and I always try to add the source of the info, thanks.

Ohh not that again.

It’s a fact known since the beginning of the pandemy in 2020, last year it was already known that BMW cancells the 8er because of weak sales and will go back down to 6er if this would ever happen.

BMW to Cancel 8 Series Coupe and Convertible Due to Poor Sales
If 20.000 units per year is fine for you I’m happy you feel so, but BMW seem not to be that satisfied.
Dear, you love to misinform, the 8 series is not cancelled, no one canceled any 8, the 8 is for sale in all markets, and it will continue in GC EV format, later, so please... You put as a source a site with a dubious reputation that nobody knows about and moves with rumors, let's be serious, is that too much to ask?

The first 6 series that was super successful in 11 years for sale sold 80,000 units in total, at the current rate at which it goes, the 8 will sell about 160,000 more or less in total in 7/8 years of cycle, let's speak properly that it doesn't cost us anything

*Again, look for the official figures, they are available to anyone.

Its not a striking car, but looks quite elegant especially the front 3/4 view, it looks very stylish. The rear is less successful though with a strange combo of previous C-class coupe rear hips and lights from the GLC coupe. The interior is a major disappointment, they should have installed the new E-class interior instead of C-class, which cheapens the whole car.

In the U.S., the discounts for the 8-series coupe and convertible told the story very well. They did not sell and required massive discounts to move inventory. BMW dealers were not happy about it. Here's an article about this: https://www.motor1.com/news/405697/bmw-8-series-dealership-difficulties/
Mercedes is mistakenly appealing to continue being a brand for old people IMO, those of the BIN parts puzzle of other models have already gone from funny to embarrassing

*Not a minor detail, it is almost 9 cm taller than the 8 coupe! being the same length.

Mercedes' average buyer age continues to drop, actually. Further, the E-class coupe was also about 9cm taller than the 8-series. The CLE's height is not surprising.

hahha me to misinform? Yesterday In just another thread we were talking about your fake numbers.

I post a link for more info. Not inventing stories, sweetie.

I just mention the news that are arround since over a year that the next 8er is cancelled for next gen due to low sales and your 160.000 are so realistic as the 40.000 i4 sold in the first week at launch that you tried to defend so hardly🤣 So calm down.

If BMW would like to play in the higher league (which will be verified due to their pending EV homework) the coupe can comeback as a 6er coupe and GC in EV form, but no longer as a 8.

For now BMW isn’t even interessted in updating the current 8er which still goes arround with its dinosaur era interior.

Being the couped version of the "E" class, I consider it surprising that it has the same height as the sedan, and is so much higher than a car of the same length, I would have expected it to be a little more "sleek" sincerely.

Correct, they would expect more sales of the 8 in certain markets they sell it with some discounts, ok 4 years have passed, all good but it does not take away from the reality of the stable figures at 25/20,000 per year which is quite good for a "super luxury coupe" of which today Mercedes, for example, with the S Class sells zero units because it is no longer manufactured having abandoned the market, not everything is black and white

So, im confused , underneath is an E class or an C class (based on the length and width of the car it is more towards the E) but it is the E class chassis underneath?

Yesterday YOU talked about me and fake numbers, not "WE" don't be a liar, show the proof of what you're talking about or go to hell for being a liar, you are a promoter of fake news about me and I will not tolerate that, post and prove what you say or shut up.

The 160,000 is an analytical mathematical possibility estimated according to the current ratio, a verifiable projection, and the 40,000 i4 I said in the first year, not in the first week, damn liar, (it will be many more than 40,000, perhaps up to 60,000 or more according to current data), post where I said a week?, idiot sociopath.

You're not worth it, one writes to you clearly and honestly but you're just a stupid troll, don't ever answer my posts again, you're not worth anything, you disgusting liar.

If anyone had any hope that MB is not dead , just look at this piece of crap.

An E-class-priced C class , with cost cutting everywhere. I bet it will be full of plastic ( wait and see ) .

MB HQ has every morning meeting like : "how do we increase our margins?"

"Oh , let's cancel an absolute superb S class coupe , and make an C class for the price of E class , with parts shared with other models" . Absolutely wonderful

F**k you MB, you lazy bastard.

PS: Look at those wonderfull rear seats....*puke*

As an current gen S class owner i have to admit...MB is under 7 series for what quality is regarding, in the 7 series 90% still screams quality
And current Audi A8 still have that limousine shape that current S class doesnt have it anymore

It's not "quite good" if dealers and BMW were expecting more. They clearly didn't think it was worth massive investment to boost sales and considered the sales good enough. Pointing out that Mercedes no longer sells the S-class is a lame point and you know it. That is purely a function of model cycles and why BMWBLOG themselves mentioned the 8-series didn't satisfy BMW and that the next-gen model will like be GC only: https://www.topspeed.com/the-next-gen-bmw-8-series-will-be-radically-different/

Best not to get too wrapped around those details. Both the C-class and E-class use the MRA II flexible platform.

That basic rear seat treatment is pretty much par for the course with MB. Previous generations of E-class coupe:

BMW at least gives you an arm rest in the 4-series:

The new E class have MRA II platform but i am surely (or hopefully) the ride quality will be a step above the current C class...so CLE will have the ride quality of the current C or E ?! That i was thinking more, im am thinking more towards to C class

I personally think it'll be more in tune with the sporting nature of the W206 C-class. The U.S. cars are coming standard with the sport suspension so I think that's a safe conclusion.

Limousine shape? The A8 looks terrible. A German, FWD Buick at best.

Analytical mathematical possibility?🤣🤣🤣

Yes, this is all about your numbers being exposed.

It was the opening week with 40.000 preorders, I remember that lie pretty well.
In your fanboy mind, your analytical mathematical possibilty.

Your aim is to produce useless content and tons of posts prising BMW based on your fake numbers and manipulated news.

Even here in the thread about CLE you couldn’t resist to push an 8er without any sens just to remind every1 that BMW…

That’s already a phobia.

Just stop replying to him, maybe he will go away.

If this CLE doesn't get air suspension as an option its a dying coupe and Mercedes knows it. The ride will be worst than the 4 series which surprisingly drives better than C Class.

My opinion, the exterior design make it looks cheap and Mercedes couldn't come up with a new design element for those nasty fake exhaust tips. Doors are thin and lots of plastics inside.
