CLE [Official] Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupé (C236)

The Mercedes-Benz CLE is a grand tourer which consists of the C236 coupe and the A236 cabriolet that were both launched in 2023 and replaced both the C-Class and E-Class coupes.
For the official press release news, see World Premiere: The New Mercedes-Benz CLE
If this CLE doesn't get air suspension as an option its a dying coupe and Mercedes knows it. The ride will be worst than the 4 series which surprisingly drives better than C Class.

Call it dead then :). I seriously doubt these will have Airmatic.

Big opportunity missed here. If this had an E level interior it would have been more of a mesh since it is does have an I6.

CLE will not get airsuspension, that’s a given ( As you probably know). That’s why it’s not an E class coupé. Till now, the only E aspect is it’s size.

I could see why one would have some hope though. Airmatic was available on the W205 C-class at the beginning of it's run. That was a fun time period where Mercedes allowed you to option high ticket items like a designo interior on the C-class.

Yes, I remember fondly. I liked those stealth C class. A “normal” C, but ho, ho!

Correct me if I’m wrong but rear wheel steer and massage seats will be an option on non-AMG variants. However I doubt this will be the case for all markets. MB are notorious for restrictions.

Rear wheel steer will be 2,5 degrees. In Germany you’ll get 7 way massage seats if you order the energizing plus package (seat heating and ventilation is included). All option, of course.
Avantgarde comes as standard, inclusive 18” wheels.

Analytical mathematical possibility?🤣🤣🤣

Yes, this is all about your numbers being exposed.

It was the opening week with 40.000 preorders, I remember that lie pretty well.
In your fanboy mind, your analytical mathematical possibilty.

Your aim is to produce useless content and tons of posts prising BMW based on your fake numbers and manipulated news.

Even here in the thread about CLE you couldn’t resist to push an 8er without any sens just to remind every1 that BMW…

That’s already a phobia.
I had this argument with him and you are not correct - He wrote back then, that in its first full year the i4 will pass sales of 100 000 units.

Thanks correct, what I think could happen, I did not take it for granted, it was evaluated according to the officially announced production figures provided, which are registered in another thread, we have to see what will happen at the end of this year.

@klugscheisser87 Do not treat people as liars without any basis, it is not polite, is offensive and it is aggressive

I agree.

This is fine as a replacement of the C-coupe and clearly an evolution of that body style. It does not appear to have the ultimate elegance of an E-coupe.

I like how it looks. It's pretty and predictable, though the adoption of the CLA style front lights is a bit left of field, and probably a bit of a bugbear given the 'E' nomenclature.

The rear lights, while they look almost identical to the GLC coupe, are actually different. Go figure they adopted another 'C' styling element given they went to the expense of a different fitting. Taillights more reminiscent of the E would have been appreciated.

Shoehorning the E-interior in there would have gone a long way to justifying the 'E' badging. The GLC has a soft touch lower dash and the C-sedan has a hard plastic lower dash. Both have crap lower door card plastics. I wonder what the CLE will get in both of these areas, where the E clearly has soft touch in both.

It's a pretty car with some very questionable product positioning decisions. As other's have said 'The best or nothing' now refers to shareholder returns. Not product for the customer.

How do we know they're different? They look identical. The only differences I've seen in shots can be attributed to camera lens distortions.

Fairly certain they're identical part numbers.

You're right. I thought the left edge was different.

Even so, they should have used rear lights more in line with the E sedan.

The wheelbase is 1 in longer than C coupe but 6.5' longer overall so it has longer overhangs.
I don't understand why they made it E coupe exterior size but smaller inside.

Then overpaid Mercedes designers slap the CLA front to put it even more down low from E class.

Good strategy, keep going downhill Mercedes.

CLE wheelbase is 25 mm longer than the C coupé and 8 mm shorter than that of the E coupé. Therefore CLE is 50 mm wider than the C coupé. CLE front overhang is 98 mm longer than C and 38 mm longer than E. Rear overhang is 41 mm longer than C and 15 mm shorter than E.
I think you’ve got to see in real life to get a feel of the the proportions.

My mums C had the airmatic and 19 inch AMG alloys. On smooth roads it delivered a smooth ride with the float sensation, but on rough surfaces it really struggled with the the Continental runflats. When we changed to Bridgestone runflats there was a notable improvement in ride and quietness, but still nowhere as good as you would have wished for in an airmatic equipped vehicle. The pre FL W205 just didn't have a well sorted suspnesion set up. The FL improved things and the W206 is a massive leap forward even without airmatic.

Apparently only 2.5% of C classes were optioned with airmatic.

I'll go and see it but its not for me. I like the more sleek window lines of the E coupe and of course S coupe.
The best thing about it though is the I6 engine and the AMG version of that must be great.
