This has the C class coupe vibes which was imo the worst looking modern coupe both the C204 and C205 gen.. the last two E class coupes were so much better especially with the pillar less design. This is the first time in almost 50 years that MB does not have a pillar less coupe. What a disaster this car is turning out to be… yuk!!

Lol, its not that bad.

As for the coupe situation. Blame buyers for wanting SUVs.
I really do wish the S-coupe still existed.

Have you seen it irl? It looks absolutely gorgeous.

I think it’s good looking but I really wish they just marketed it as a C Coupe. There isn’t enough E DNA there to warrant the CLE designation. Unless you’re getting the 450 with the I6 I don’t see the point.

Agreed in the sense, there is too little E in it's interior and exterior design to justify calling it E. But the drive is apparently much more on E level than on C level. So is the space, obviously. If MB would have called it C class sec, everyone would be cheering.

And, current naming standards notwithstanding, what if they called it CLK? Would that be more appropriate as the CLK was originally a 'tweener?
Probably would make sense.
But they've done a whole lot of chopping and changing of the nomenclature in attempt to streamline it.

The CLK was a smaller CL, in the same way the SLK was a smaller SL.

However the CL was replaced by the S class Coupe and the CLK was replaced by the E class Coupe.

If it was to make any sense the CLE should really be called the D class. But that doesn't really sound all that great lol.

CLE is fine. But I wish they put the E class dashboard in it. Heck, don't even have to have the super screen, just the case E class dash would be a welcome improvement.

CL to S coupe was just a badge swap. Pure marketing. It was always just an S Coupe. The E Coupe, CLK, CLE is a far messier arrangement/history.

And just like that the CLE has been (mostly) redeemed.

It is only 0,2 seconds quicker than 450. Was hoping the figure would be below 4 seconds.

But definitely it's good approach since it does not have the plug-in hybrid bs
