C-Class (W206) [Official] Mercedes Benz C-Class (W206)

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W206) is the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class which is produced by Mercedes-Benz Group AG since 2021. It replaces the W205 C-Class which had been produced since 2014. The fifth-generation C-Class is available in sedan (W206), station wagon/estate (S206), and long-wheelbase sedan (V206) body styles. The W206 C-Class is based on the Mercedes MRA II rear-wheel drive modular platform also used by the W223 S-Class.

Ok Nostradamus, you have the gift of sight and touch from far away.
Can you tell me what the surface of the moon would feel like against my bare ass cheeks, so I won’t have to make the trip ?
Actually he may not be wrong; unless they change drastically no one does a solid (non- creaky) and a nice material quality like BMW do… that’s just a fact; both Audi and Benz interiors creak … even on the likes of the W223.. I’ve gotten used to them in both my Audis.. but I swear sometimes I feel that a pig is being slaughtered in my dash board

I appreciate your comment was more about the 'natural selection' element of the segment leaders surviving, but I do think Mercedes decision to have two separate model lines, platforms and even factories essentially competing with each other for (potentially) the same "S" segment customers is a drawback.

Not just a drawback, but a mistake of the highest order, that might cost them everything in the end.

The S class is a shadow of it's former self riddled with stupid stuff, errors and malfunctions. The E is non existent, and splitting R&D with the EQ models means everything they do is half arsed. This will not stand.

Never thought I'd say that I won't ever consider a C-Class. That 4-cylinder drone is just awful. Just wow, an entire model line is lost to me.

Technically I think the different strategies employed by the companies will dictate which nameplates you see go first. Realistically BMW will call NK1 a 3 series even if it's a BEV version. Mercedes have split their top tier between S, and EQS. The total sales may not shift much, but on paper at least this could mean S-Class sales appear to fall where the likes of the 3-er don't.

The EQS and S-class are actually being built in the same factory. Everything is pointing towards this competing model strategy to only last one generation, but regardless I do find it funny there is now criticism for the EQS being on its own EV-only platform. Elsewhere there's been a lot of criticism towards those who chose platforms that could accommodate all powerplants. I do agree this strategy dividing resources at the same time they've embarked upon rampant cost cutting is sad to see.

Is it possible you don't see them driving around much because of the chip shortage? I won't be getting mine until next March for this very reason.

Chip shortage? In the NL the price-quality ratio is excellent.

As you mentioned, the chip shortage has reduced C-class production down to a trickle. High margin vehicles and EQ models are getting priority.

I wonder if this focus on high end vehicles will cause Mercedes to re-think their business. Maybe they should go back to producing just middle to high end cars, more Porsche less VW.

This may be on the cards as Ola focuses on profitability. Apparently the compact range is under intense focus for some culling.

There is still no word on pricing and availability of the new C class here in Australia. It's a huge volume vehicle for MB Australia.

Aren't you exaggerating? You are right about the lack of I6, but that the I4 is that bad? Owners (read on internet on CL) of current C with Turbo 4 say the engine is more refined than IS 350.

No. I’ve never met a 4-cylinder that I liked. The 330i I had as a loaner was the best I’ve ever had and I still didn’t like it. The IS350’s V6 is from 2006 and it’s naturally aspirated. A very low bar.

That´s a C180. You won´t see that thing in the States anyway. It´s utilizies a 1.5L engine that helps a lot in countries with displacement taxes or CO2 based taxes(Like the car market ,where the dude is driving). The 2.0L version is definitive more refined I would say.

All 4-cylinders have a sound and gruff about how they go about their work that is a off putting to me. They sound like they're going to die or like they're having a seizure when you come to stop after some highway running. Terrible.

A Hatch, CLA, GLA, GLB is all they need IMO, if they have to have any of them. The new CLA does look far better on the road and looks as good as the CLS at first glance.

The 1.5 litre is still a 4-cylinder. Why would it be much different to a 2.0 litre in terms of noise and vibration?

Oi mate, we're so many miles apart. One drives with gloves and the other farts as soon as he gets in his car every morning...

:LOL::LOL::LOL:

Oh, maybe we're not so different you and I. The gloves do not preclude me farting in the car, although I do remember years ago having an unwritten rule that farting wasn't allowed in my car if it was less than 12 months old. And I included passengers in that.
