X7 [Official] BMW X7 (G07)

The BMW X7 is a full-size luxury crossover sport utility vehicle manufactured by BMW. It is BMW's largest and second most expensive SUV in its line-up. The X7 was first announced by BMW in March 2014. It was officially unveiled on October 17, 2018, with pre-orders being taken online. The X7 has been available at dealers since March 2019.
Between this, the X5, the GLE, and the upcoming GLS, yoga-moms (and golf-dads) everywhere in the US are celebrating with another round of mimosas and/or bloody maries. ;)

I really like that pressure sensor for the second row that senses when someone's feet are in the third row. In effect, it basically maximizes the legroom of the third row based on who is sitting back there (provided there is an adult whose feet can touch the ground) as it stops sliding the second row back into position when it touches someone's foot in the third row after that person has climbed in back there.

Awesome! The front is perfect in Pure Excellence, classic Kink, so much presence. The roof rails look substantial. Those multi spoke 22s look like a steamroller. Love it. Which color?

I thought the production car would look better than the concept, but this not only looks better but really looks good. Of course the back 3/4 rear view is not what you would call pretty but none of the cars in the segment look good in that area.

Impressive, especially the interior. It looks luxurious and expensive, if not exactly beautiful exterior wise. Still though this is going to make a big splash in the market. Need to see more of the M Sport model, it may not be the automatic choice now.

I am pleasantly surprised how good looking this is. Personally I prefer this car looks wise fractionally to the X5 as it uses more unique styling features like the slimmer front lights and horizontal drawn rear lights with chrome strip and its really majestic looking. The interior is nice and luxurious looking but I can't help feel disappointed that it is just the same as the X5 but with some more extra trim strips and LEDs. This is supposed to be BMW new flagship and should get a more bespoke interior.

Look at that Blue headliner and coverings.

It has a very formal upright flair about it. The tailgate hints at the Rolls IMO.

I actually like it more than the X5 in some moments.

See the X7 branding?

This is going to do big business for BMW. A brand that has personally disappointed me in ownership, but is poised for a big 2019: X5, X7, 3er, Z4 and the 8-Series models. Lots of hotness coming up.

It looks majestic and a little opulent, but also balanced. Given the market trend, it will sell like hot cakes, as this time BMW has done it right. Even though their interiors are quite similar, there is a certain aura of distinctiveness inside the X7. And the exterior styling is as well perfectlt fitted for a true premium luxury SAV. I am particularly interested in some photos with the M Sport/M50d models. They seem to look very good, even though the Design Pure Excellence might be the top choice for the G07.

Agreed with all points. It's not beautiful, but It's impressive.

Well done BMW!

Somehow, unfounded or not, I suspect the GLS interior is going to be more lavish/opulent.

BMW X7 Vs. BMW X5: See The Changes Side-By-Side
You might be surprised at just how similar they are.
After a very long and rather public period of testing the new BMW X7 full-size SUV is here. The three-row monster from Munich will duke it out with numerous competitors, not the least of which being the Lexus LX, Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, and everyone’s favorite bling machine, the Cadillac Escalade.

The X7’s arrival also means that, for the first time since it was introduced in 1999, BMW’s original SUV – the X5 – is no longer king of the mountain. That is, at least when it comes to overall size and price; A new X5 was revealed earlier this year, and it’s not insubstantial by any means. Could the smaller X5 still be the preferred choice for someone seeking a big Bimmer people mover? Let’s see how they stack up, with the X5 on the left and X7 on the right in the comparisons below.
Front

There’s no question the X7 is the bigger brawler, but you might be surprised by just how little a difference there really is between the two. The X7 stands at 71.06 inches tall, but the X5 is less than three inches shorter: 68.7 inches to be exact. And here’s something that might surprise you: the X5 is actually wider than the X7. Granted we’re talking a very slim margin – 78.9 inches versus 78.7 inches – so for all intents and purposes, these SUVs are a dead match. Credit the bigger kidney grille and chiseled front fascia on the X7 for making it look far larger, but in reality the X5 doesn’t give anything to its big brother, at least looking head-on.

Here’s where we notice a legitimate difference between the two SUVs. The X7 stretches 202.8 inches, compared to 193.8 inches for the X5. That almost a foot difference, and though it may not sound like much, it’s the difference between having a third-row for passengers with space left over, and having an optional third-row where groceries would usually sit. However, the wheelbase between the two is much closer – 117.13 inches for the X5 and 122.24 inches on the X7. That’s only a difference of five inches.

We’ve already discussed dimensions, but without a massive grille and square chin distracting us, it’s shocking to see just how similar these two SUVs really are from the back. From this perspective, it’s also easier to see the small height advantage the X7 holds, something that would actually pay dividends for rear-seat passengers. The greenhouse looks just a bit taller, whereas the X5 comes across just a touch wider.

Inside

Are you ready to be shocked? Considering both SUVs are the same width, the interiors are pretty much identical in layout. At least, that’s the case from the front. You can check out our reveal articles at the top of the page for both the X5 and X7 to get specifics on features and equipment, but from a driver’s perspective the smaller X5 is a dead ringer for the X7.

Of course, the X7’s claim-to-fame is the third-row seating. The X5 will offer a third-row option (second row is pictured here, on the left), but it certainly won’t be quite as spacious as what you’ll find in BMW’s new flagship.

Frankly, after compiling this side-by-side comparison and seeing just how similar these SUVs are, we’re very anxious to sample the new X7. Aside from a bit of extra space in the rear, it could be hard to justify stepping up the pricing ladder for what could essentially be the same experience with the tried-and-true X5.

The X7 is far more upmarket looking. Much more expensive in its presentation, that alone will win over a lot of buyers IMO. BMW got this right.

Next up GLS and Escalade.

I love it! I am also dissapointed that they didn't even try differentiating the interior. It's literally like a 95% copy-and-paste job, with new trims and color options .Those new wood trims do look gorgeous though:love:.

I’d find it difficult to justify buying a Cullinan when this is big and luxurious enough to satisfy most people ...and I think it’s looks far better too.

Nice looking SUV appliance from once a storybook brand for me. The brand that produced the iconic E24, E31, E46, E39, the magnificent E38 and many more before. Nothing after E46 gives me the same nostalgia from BMW.

Yet people still buy a Ghost over an S class/7er.
Or a C class over a Passat...you get where I am going, this has nothing whatsoever over a Cullinan, which is on a different league altogether. Some people not liking the design of that car is unfortunate for them alone.

Buying a Rolls is an indulgence, you don't have to justify anything. Wrong mindset.

But I do wonder what the U.S soccerdads all buy.....some American junk perhaps? A lovely manly F150 surely.

I'm pleasantly surprised. It's entirely in keeping with a big luxo-barge SUV. Oodles of presence with a big, butch persona - this is not a car that one would describe as beautiful, well, in the traditional sense at least.
But heck it does have presence and I'm amazed at how the M-Sport model manages to "pop" and still look the part. This looks terrific:

The interior is sublime, I have no issues with the dash being shared - but enhanced, materially - with the X5 as this is a logical industry practice now. I am pretty certain we will see the same outcome with the GLS. It makes sense: X5/X6/X7 and GLE/GLE C/GLS will exhibit the same approach.

This will be true for most buyers.

Both cars are equally as new, have the same tech and luxury. The only strong rationale for buying the X7 is if you want to comfortably seat adults in the third row or want the biggest boot possible.

You can call it an X5 Plus/Max. As @martinbo said the GLS is no different.

I wonder if this X7 starts from 100k euro?

Some configurators went up just a few hours ago :)

Check the price in your country.

It was interesting to learn that some BMW executives have X7 lined up for their official vehicle to be chauffeured around in.

Car executives encouraged to use a flagship car? No way Jose.

B...
Of course you are correct .......I was being uncharacteristically practical in my assessment.

Just speaking for myself, I would rather own this than a Cullinan - However, (being much more typically impractical) I would most prefer a Brabus 700 Widestar! :D
