X7 [Official] BMW X7 (G07)

The BMW X7 is a full-size luxury crossover sport utility vehicle manufactured by BMW. It is BMW's largest and second most expensive SUV in its line-up. The X7 was first announced by BMW in March 2014. It was officially unveiled on October 17, 2018, with pre-orders being taken online. The X7 has been available at dealers since March 2019.
Make sense but still there are solutions, that trim looks half thought and in a car that costs over 100k I can not accept.

8 Series has metal trim around door handle:

As it is part of the design. But the area behind the latch is still black scratch-resistant plastics. And yet the buttons on the doors are black plastic - while some in X7 are metal / galvanized. Also missing (more) metal buttons on the steering wheel.

There's absolutely no consistency in design details & choice of materials across the "THE" line!

Maybe roof line at rear could be slightly sloped.

Obviously not if you want a 7 seater.

Because in reality, even the X7 is rather cramped inside for 7 seats. Just check the Autogefuhl video a few pages back, I wouldn't call it spacious with 7 seats.

Four seats will be the way to go for true luxury. A shame they didn't show this configuration yet.

Long story, but you will get that engine in 2020.

That long story is already explained by @Der Hofmeister ;)

keep the third row folded, problem solved. folds prefectly flat, no compromises whatsoever.

Nope, third row folded takes a lot of space for the second row. You're better off with the third row in normal upright position and then with the second row down as far as possible. I haven't seen Thomas do that in the Autogefuhl vid though, sadly. But he did fold the third row away and that takes space off the interior (into a bigger boot)

:D Nope, my friend, i am referring to my M5 (probably Competition) that will arrive in spring/summer 2019.... :D

Let's not go crazy now! That SUV is in a different class. Drove one recently and the craftsmanship is unbelievable. It's art on four wheels, no exaggeration.
A different class? maybe just price, but it's overprice.I believe X7 is superior than Cullinan in design and technology etc.Ranger Rover is still the king in this segment.

I think it's safe to say the aluminium spaceframe of the Cullinan is more advanced than CLAR.

Range is old and tired, but still pretty (from the outside)

So, not that engine then...
BTW, I'd wait with buying an M5 until the tech inside is updated to the newest style with virtual cockpit et all....Should be the 2019 model year, but make sure you have that one.

wow really? so that second row legroom that is quoted as 37.6" is actually less than that when the third row is folded? you sure about that? bad design compromise if true

I am not sure, but I think so when watching the Autogefuhl vid. When you fold the third row there has to be space sacrificed for the back of the seat thats being folded. And the back of the seat is bigger than the part you sit on if you know what I mean.

I have heard the so called aluminum spaceframe of new RR family is basically identical to CLAR of Bmw but without Carbon Core technology.Bmw didn't want to invest big moneys on RR because of group profits,RR still share many Bmw parts including platform with some minor change.

my hope is that the 33.3" of third row legroom is enough to accommodate the folded seat back of the third row when not in use. it would honestly be absurd if it doesnt.

Truthfully, the car needed another 20 cm or so in length to actually make it spacious in the rear, but that would make it look ridiculous from the outside. A smaller Van probably has more room inside.

Best configuration for the X7 would be 4 seats, with the rear seats in the placed in the middle of the second and third row. True spacious luxury.
Like I said earlier, think that even in the X7 the three row option is simply not good enough. The design of an SUV doesn't lend itself for three rows of seats. Three rows of seats belong in a Limo or in a Van.

So where did you hear this nonsense?

Are you trying to say the Phantom VIII is just a modded 7er?

Like I sai...

Yeah that config isn’t realistic nor is it necessary. Three row suvs with nice accommodations can and have been done. This vehicle may not be best in class in that regard but that’s what electric seat controls are for. Move this seat up, keep that one there, etc. Would be cool if they had some master memory function that would memorize the placement of all non driver seats for when it’s the in-laws in the car, the three kids and wife, etc. One push of a button and everything is where it needs to be.

Well, let’s hope the third row fold doesn’t limit second row legroom. That would be about a 10 year step back for 3 row SUVs. I’m guessing it doesn’t because of that fact and that there isn’t a separate second row legroom dimension listed for when third row is folded
