M3/M4 Official: BMW M3 E92 Concept

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
Re: Officiell: BMW M3 E92 Concept

You may be right, but lets remember this is a civilian car that may not ever, or for the most part, use such a function. This car is not meant to be thrown--even though it can--on the track which such a design would be beneficial. We have to understand the aesthetics plays a major role in cars like the M3 and BMW knows that. So, I don't agree with you entirely if that is what you are going to argue is the sole purpose of a connector on the mirror back to the mirror base.

Yes, but you'd be surprised how big of a roll side mirrors pay. I don't remember the exact figure but the side mirrors alone affect drag coefficient between around 5 to 10% (someone really needs to check me on this one). It's the part of the car that sticks out. That's why many companies want to move to use a camera instead of a physical mirror.
If this mirror is efficient, it will reduce drag, therefore increasing performance. It will also increase fuel economy. Besides, I think it looks badass :usa7uh:

Re: Officiell: BMW M3 E92 Concept

is it only me here who thinks this is the CSL version they are showing ùs?

I don't think so. Like Mike said, there's no reason for them to show the CSL first. Hell, is the CSL even being developed yet? Also, the interior is identical to the regular 3er more or less. A CSL would be much more stripped of such luxuries.

Fine I won't argue...but I'll say that this isn't the first time BMW has used this design. Look at the E36 m3...very similar. Also, not everyone is going to track this car or take it 150mph or more...but in order for them pitch the idea that it is track-able and will go above 150mph with ease, they have to make it as aerodynamically sound and steady as possible. And like i stated earlier, design has a lot to do with it as well.

Re: Officiell: BMW M3 E92 Concept

CSL was supposed to have rear license plate in bumper:t-hands:

Re: Officiell: BMW M3 E92 Concept

I'm still holding my breath if this is true. It confused me because some people were saying 440hp and 330kw. 330kw equals 450 hp. If that is the case, this car will be seriously fast.

is it only me here who thinks this is the CSL version they are showing ùs?

Hmmm....well the interior does not look that flashy, so it may be. Who knows.

Why would they show the CSL before the actual M3 is shown?

I was thinking about the power figures because many sources (including Eni and Scott) confirmed the 426 hp claim so could it be that they announced the specs for the M3 CSL engine? :eusa_thin Also the rims and the interior as look more CSL than regular M3.

Re: Officiell: BMW M3 E92 Concept

I was told M3 Concept had some CSL elements.

CF roof, slick tires, extra-padded steetring wheel, perhaps? ;)

M3 Concept looks like a strange hybrid of pre-production M3 with some CSL gimmicks.

Interior looks too pre-production! Concept interiors should be flashy & expensive ... This is a let-down by M///.
Really, it looks like they had a €5,000 budget for the presentation - with €4,000 of them going for live satellite transmission.

I agree with you. However, I still think that this serves better in sales and looks than function.

Michael you could be right, but when it comes to M division, they usually put function before form.

ps...i don't know if this is csl or not but the damn tires are the same as CSL.

Re: Officiell: BMW M3 E92 Concept

Can some1 Photoshop versions of the pics without the bulge please :eusa_pray

Re: Officiell: BMW M3 E92 Concept

Is it a complete love feast, or is their atleast 1 soul that honestly expected a little more out of BMW?

Ehhh...I love M don't get me wrong, but I think any logical person will tell you that it serves a purpose but it will will be greater served in the eyes of people looking and saying, 'damn that looks good.'

Re: Officiell: BMW M3 E92 Concept

I don't really like the rims. I wish BMW would be an aggressive rims developer like Audi with the RS4. Just my opinion though, just mine...

Look...lets agree to disagree. :t-cheers: All i'll say is that M isn't ford where they add big engines and body kits and leave the rest alone.

Re: Officiell: BMW M3 E92 Concept

Dang now that I see the big pictures, that hood bulge is so much more obvious than past M3's. From the front it looks normal, but from the side profile, it looks like it came off a muscle car.

I think it looks ok, but no doubt people will have problems with it

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
