M3/M4 Official: BMW M3 E92 Concept

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

The car looks amazing! :icondrool
But the bulge on the bonnet :t-banghea what was BMW thinking!:t-crazy2:

Re: Officiell: BMW M3 E92 Concept

No Surprises about the front.. we alle expected it to look like this..
They managed to keep the rear design a secret till today and I kinda like it.. still have to see it in person..
The side mirrors aren't my cup of tea.. would've preferred those of the M5/M6..
Side vents are great!

All in all I give it 9/10:usa7uh:

Re: Officiell: BMW M3 E92 Concept

Well that should have been expected. The last M3 has the side gills and the evolution would continue, especially when found on the M5.

Of course it was expected, the M6 also carries the tradition. I just wasn't sure how it would play out, but am pleased to say I like it

The sidegills one the M cars have always been one of my favorite traits. Love the ones on this M3. Very subtle but gives that car the edge

Re: Officiell: BMW M3 E92 Concept

EVOLUTION! Take a look at the old M3.

I have to agree with TrueAMG.. the bulge should'e been designed to fit the Flame Surface design of the whole car.. this one is almost the same bulge from the old M3- which looks good, but only on the E46

It is different and a little bit more pushy in the design section. I suppose that is what comes with the sportiest BMW.

By the way, the Mirrors are quite interesting. They have a connector on the top that routs back to the door. That is quite interesting. Never seen that before.

Is there any point other than design for such a thing?

Remember this is a concept, everything might not get into production

damn...i can't wait for some hi-res pics! I really love this car.

I don't see anything wrong with the bulge but I notice that it is not that appealing at first to the eyes. Proportionally it should fit just right on the new M3. Take a look at the extesions on the body such as the side fenders and the bumper. I suppose that in person, since you can see the car from so many different angles and also see the car in actual perspective, the bulge would not be as bad. However, I suppose we have to wait until we can all see it in person.

Agreed :usa7uh:

I very much doubt it. Everything you see here will probably go into productions (minus the wheels probably).

If you look at the M5 Concept, it is pretty much the same as the regular M5. BMW played the cards almost the same way in this one, from the photo shoots, to the color.

You are right, However, for the most part, everything in the M5 and more got into the production. The mirrors on the M5 concept were not the same that they are now on the M5 production.

The point besides design is aerodynamics. The double-fin design helps the air flow smoothly through the mirrors and around the side.

Re: Officiell: BMW M3 E92 Concept

I'm still holding my breath if this is true. It confused me because some people were saying 440hp and 330kw. 330kw equals 450 hp. If that is the case, this car will be seriously fast.

You may be right, but lets remember this is a civilian car that may not ever, or for the most part, use such a function. This car is not meant to be thrown--even though it can--on the track which such a design would be beneficial. We have to understand the aesthetics plays a major role in cars like the M3 and BMW knows that. So, I don't agree with you entirely if that is what you are going to argue is the sole purpose of a connector on the mirror back to the mirror base.

is it only me here who thinks this is the CSL version they are showing ùs?

Hmmm....well the interior does not look that flashy, so it may be. Who knows.

Why would they show the CSL before the actual M3 is shown?

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
