iX [Official] BMW iX (i20) [2021-

The BMW iX is a battery-electric mid-size luxury crossover SUV manufactured and marketed by the German automobile manufacturer BMW. It was unveiled in concept form as the Vision iNext at the 2018 LA Auto Show, and then in its production form in November 2020. The iX is BMW's second fully electric vehicle after the i3 in 2013, and the fourth BMW i sub-brand model.
Rivian can go hardcore off-roading though where iX can barely cope with a dirt road. So obviously there's going to be distinct difference in ride & handling characteristics.
I just don’t see iX as an SUV. It’s more of a crossover. It’s more car-like compared to the other X models. BMW never released any off road media tackling the dirt.
It is surprisingly capable in the Snow however.

Today as I went to the launch of the new 7 , I sat in a few iX in the showroom ( different configs )

I will keep my position : It's ugly as hell. But this is debatable , of course...

But the rear seat space is pretty big. So that's a big plus . Also the rear bench is comfy and big .

What I did not like and understand : Why is the trunk designed like that. It's so poor use of space. The space behind those lights it's absolutely huge and not used at all

Exactly, I see it no differently. Point is, the comparison is quoted as saying that the iX's dynamic refinement is superior to the Rivian's yet this is an obvious outcome given the Rivian's more rough conditions-capable underpinnings.

The only time an iX goes off road will be to the loose gravel at the driveway up to the Chateau.
It’s a bizarre comparison. X5 yes but not iX.

It is good to read the article for context, they say that the pickup handles very well and that the bad thing about this SUV corresponds to a bad and scarse development, it is bad even when compared to an F150, to the point that, I paraphrase them "they cannot forget horrible driving experience"

Nor did the leaks when they took him to wash.

Carbon Cage.

Barely. Carbon cage is little more than cladding in the body, and the roof braces.

I'm not sure the space behind rear lights could be used much better as it appears to fall inside the structure of the car.

Not even X5, even that doesn't come close to the Rivian's off-road ability.

Tbf most Rivan owners won’t take them off road, same as most SUV’s they spend their days on the black top. Manufacturers should cut the pretence, make them drive on road properly and sell optional off road packages for the few that might go off-road.

The spicier iX starts at $106,095, and our modestly equipped test model rang in at $109,945. Even so, a Tesla Model X Plaid starts at just over $140,000. Whether you can tolerate its mediocre build quality or need its 333 miles of range and Tesla's Supercharger network is up to you. The iX M60 features decently quick charging at rates up to 250 kW and gets an EPA-estimated 288 miles of range. And it's built exceptionally well.

The Dee has rendered the iX a stop gap car. It looks dated now.

I think iX was always going to be a bit of an oddity within the line-up. It's in production until 2028, and should probably get an LCI of some sort at about the time the first NK cars hitting road, but there won't be that much overlap if the NK cars start coming through in 2025/2026, iX sales will already be in their decline phase then anyway, unless the LCI makes significant advances.
