It probably has to grow on people.
When I first saw the car I had my doubts , but the more time I spent with the car I came to appreciate it more , if anything it injects a bit more desirablity with the balance of sportiness it has always been about.
The music in the first video is f-ed up imo. This is not the 1er or X1....Not a fan of the music in the second vid either, but it bends my toes less
BMW as a brand has a very large appeal with the consumer , The BMW Roundel is respected as an iconic logo as is the Mercedes-Benz , and they are both premium brands.
BMW has also established with the 1er that customers who had not considered a BMW before can be interested by the concept that not only the involves the car but the marketing aswell.
A marketing approach has to approach the consumer by showing how good the product is by making it stand out by making the message visually interesting.
The X1 which by the beginning of Spring will have delivered over 10,000 cars since it entered the market in early November is extremely significant because the greater ratio of customers who bought the X1 were new BMW consumers. Same for the 5er Gran Turismo these cars are being bought by consumers who never considered a BMW before and by Spring over 5,000 GT's will be on the market. Very good for a car which is defined not by volume but exclusivity.
In the launch of the BMW X1 it was a typical reach out to younger customers something we have always reflected with our 1er series of models in our marketing and something we will continue to do with an upcoming "1" model.
With the 3er Coupe it is an interesting concept because it is a relatively new direction for BMW taken with the E92 because it was no longer a 2dr 3er sedan. It was always sporty and we always showcased it's dynamics but the car has to field a new level of desirability in light of increased competition so we made it appear more desirable to the consumer.
It also gives an idea of how the direction of the "Father" the 6er will take.

It's sad, that they don't go the professional way, by taking real photos of the facelifted model!
