6 Series (F12) [Official] BMW 6er Coupe (F13)

The third generation of the BMW 6 Series consists of the F12 (two-door convertible version), F13 (two-door coupé version), and F06 (four-door "Gran Coupé" version) executive-sized grand tourers. The F12/F13/F06 generation is often collectively referred to as the F12. Production: March 2011 – September 2018.
I agree Martin. It sure is nice. But is 'nice' enough to compete with cars of this class over the long haul.

Absolutly! because a CL without AMG package looks horrible and boring but there are still people who buy the car. If it wasn't for the star on the hood I dont think CL would sell well imo. The new 6-series will do just fine. As long as the sales are better than previous 6-series then its all good.

PS I read a M-package will be shown soon

We need a comparison picture thread - BMW 6er coupe and CL:t-cheers:

My vote will be 6er for sure!

There's already been a comparison thread, but here are some photos from BMWBLOG.

Dude can't I speak without having you showing these pictures. I say what I think just like you and everyone else do. Should I post pictures like that everytime someone doesn't like a car. Hater is a very strong word and I'm far from being a hater.

It'd be pointless, cars of different generation. In fairness we should wait for the new S-coupe.

All true AND correcting my mistake - I do not see the S-coupe as a direct competitors at all - The 6er an CL cater for TOTALLY different tastes IMO;) more Bentley vs CL and 6er vs SL in my books, well maybe I am unique LOL.
:t-cheers:

^Completely agree..

Both these cars are quit stunning. I`d go for the Merc, way more class...
On top of that the S is the top quality German car. But why are we talking about the CL here. It starts out at $113,150, thats without some very good options.. too expensive to compare with the $80,000 6er.

Oh come now..No point in catching feelings! And to be honest, I believe this is the first time you have received an HgH from HoH. You are welcomed to use on me if you see me "hating" on a car, which I myself do from time to time.

It's actually a better way of debating. Normally I would dispute with you over comments like that, which would produce a lot of back and forth. The HgH helps prevent that.

Let's leave any BMW vs. Mercedes Benz debate for the Internal Combustion section shall we? We can debate the 6er's looks, identify competitors and discuss these in a mature fashion but let's leave the my-car-is-better-than-your-car stuff out of here please.

Personally I think of it like this:

BMW's Marketers: "The new 6er Coupe is big enough and good enough to compete with the CL Class."
Mercedes' Marketers: "Our CL Class doesn't have a direct rival from BMW."

Whether they are or not is purely down to a matter of opinion - it would be a never-ending debate.

Let me give you guys my 0.02 as well:

Current CL is half a class above 6er, and the next gen will be a full class above 6er :)
High end 6er models compete with low end CL models. Like 3er and 5er or E and S :)

CL doesn't come with a V6, and 6er doesn't come with a V12, but both have a V8....all the proof I need to put it in a box.

HoH: LOL @ HgH :D (the phrase that is)

^^^ Error 404 ;p

Andreas: agree with this wholeheartedly, but a car is more than it's design ;)
When BMW offers a 630 hp monster 6er, and like CL 65 AMG costing 300,000 euros in my country, they are on the same level :)

But putting all these coupes in a box like we did in the past is becoming harder and harder....C coupe, E coupe and CL all play on a little bit different level than BMW coupe models..

Now enough before Martin becomes angry with our off topic chat ;)

Agreed. I'd take a high end 6'er over a Base CL WITHOUT QUESTION. However, high end CL will take the cake for me. Although, being that the 6'er comes out during the closing years of the current CL bodystyle, it makes the "choice" that much more difficult.... Then the next CL comes out, and the circle starts back up, lol.

About design exclusivity, the CL lacks SOMETHING, I can't pinpoint what, because when highly optioned, it's absolutely gorgeously stunning.... But something. However, the only thing about the 6'er that will match it in "Design Exclusivity" is that it's newer (which doesn't really count to me). The CL will always have a more exclusive design, and will be seen more rarely than a 6-Series.

About design exclusivity, the CL lacks SOMETHING,

Thats what I'm saying. A CL500 has nothing that stands out from the 6er other than the badge. 650i is a better deal than a CL500, no doubt.
