I definitely prefer that version to the production one. Too bad it didn't get picked. It is true it has a somewhat more compromised rear sitting position/boot space, but I fail to see how this is related to the elevated sitting position in general? A6 Allroad has an air suspension that gets you the "semi-command" sitting position when in the highest setting and almost the standard A6 sitting position in its lowest setting. It has nothing to do with the rest of the packaging.

Btw, I like the idea of the new (old?) BMW kidney grille ... It looks quite radical but still utterly BMW - in contrast to upturned 3D kidneys.

I like these "old-school" kidney's. Love yo see them on a future BMW.

That silver concept look very much like the X6.

The Book "From Concept to Reality - The BMW 5er Gran Turismo is available shortly in which you will also include the DVD which extracts are to be found in this programme. The Book is originally produced in German but English Translation will be available in the early months of 2010.

The book is a worthwhile companion with so much access to the design , development and testing stages of the 5er Gran Turismo. Learn about how the find the best seat in the house and translating that to a car from visiting some of the worlds high end lounges. Is just one chapter of how the thought process went into the creativity of the F07 Project.

The next book I am working on is regarding the new 5er , however this wont be available until Spring 2011. as it will incorporate the Touring model. Again the leverage to the 5er story will include access to so much that has only been talked about but never seen with all generations of the 5er.

There is a MINI design book now available too covering the early conception of the first MINI right up to the Coupe and Roadster Concepts.

It was this question that brought about the need for the CS 6. Unfortunately a car like the 5er Gran Turismo can not be compromised in terms of passenger comfort or space. A CS 6 can make adjustments to that because of what it's intentions are as a Performance four door coupe where such features are not the highest priority.

Another Gran Turismo based upon the 3er is again more performance and dynamically motivated , a cross-between a coupe and a shooting brake.

Actually I find that people will find the book very interesting and be astonished at the level of information. Chapters range from the initial idea , the design process , sketches etc, even the final three. The book is authorised from BMW so you get to see the in depth stuff you normally only read about , covered in stunning photography and representations of actual exterior , interior concepts. influences and ideas for the interior concept , engineering , development , safety , focus groups to marketing and impressions from people in many fields of art and culture.
