911 (997) [Official] 997 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0

The Porsche 997 is the sixth generation of the Porsche 911 sports car. Predecessor: Porsche 911 (996). Successor: Porsche 911 (991). Production: 2004–2013.
Black, but of course WITHOUT those fugly decals. That's childish and immature.

Porsche charges for the decals on some of their 911's/Cayenne/Panamera/Boxster/Cayman :eusa_doh:

Sometimes I look at the decals and think they look terrible (esp on the white cars), but then if you order the RS without the decals, there is very little in the way to distinguish this special edition RS4.0 from a normal GT3.

Not a fan of the decals on 4.0, but love the ones on the normal RS.

That's what makes it even cooler, right?

^^^ Wow that was a disappointing review. The tester is weird lol. Thank god I can't understand what he is saying. Video was nice though, anything to see the 4.0 :D

major WANT, nay, NEED for this impeccable piece of machinery. In fact, I think I may like this a smidge more than the 599GTO...it has all the capabilities without the added attention unless you're a gearhead.

Even though I'm no fan of decals, the "PORSCHE" above doorsill has this retro '70's flair that I'm fine with. So dark blue, carbon fiber trim/spoiler and "PORSCHE" in gunmetal/pewter lettering. Wheels could either be black or gunmetal....that's my ideal set-up.

EDIT: Just went through this thread for the first time. I can't believe it took me this long o realize the utter brilliance of this car. I figure I was busy moving at the time of its release. And really didn't pay attention since it seems that Porsche was coming out with a different iteration of the 997 in its last 2 years. But this car is the tits. And, oh yea, a small '4.0' decal on the passenger side of the rear wing...my little homage to who Ferrari had their F40 inscripted.

This does lead me to question how they are going to follow this up with the 991 generation, but I guess that question is best left for the 991 thread.

^^^I love that oh-so-mechanical sound at idle and I lust that sound as it accelerates. E-P-I-C!!!!!

Surprisingly, for a run-of-the mill V6 from Toyota, the Lotus sounds pretty good too. It's no LFA or RS 4.0 or 599GTO, but good nonetheless.

It's a 599 GTO, and there's a 430 Scuderia plus an Esprit. Who's the owner ?

An Esprit! That's the one I couldn't figure out.

The temporary plates on the RS say Nashville, if that helps.

4.0 driver needs an introduction to few apexes. But a good video to show how much the driver maters.

Altezza lights on a 911 just look wrong. But this car is oh so right. I'd love to drive this on the Stelvio Pass.

^^^I love this car. The sound that engine emits when Monkeyman downshifts and accelerates is just fantastic. Wish they'd cut back on the slow-mo editing and New-Age background music, but that's a minor quibble in an otherwise exemplary video.
