M3/M4 [Official] 2021 BMW M3 and M4 [G80 & G82]

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

Nothing he said is wrong BMW said it themselves the M5 Touring was a safe bet.

Van Meel told BMWBLOG that choosing the M5 Touring was “the logical decision to make at the time.” In other words, Munich’s higher-ups expected the G99 to sell better than the G81. Bringing both wagons wasn’t part of the plan: “There’s only one chance for a first impression, so we took a safe bet.”

In hindsight, BMW realizes it might have been smart to sell the M3 Touring in the U.S. The M division boss admitted they were “not brave enough” to greenlight the G81 for America because they had “second thoughts” about its potential success.

Interestingly, a slow-selling M3 wagon would’ve doomed the M5 Touring’s chances in the U.S. BMW would have been reluctant to approve another long-roof M if the smaller wagon had underperformed. Rivals Mercedes and Audi have also avoided this niche in the U.S. by keeping the AMG C63 Estate and RS4 Avant out of the market. The M3 Touring might have filled that void, but it’s too late now.

While now we'll never know how the M3 Touring would have done, I am absolutely confident the G81 M3 Touring would've sold at the very least as well as the M4 Coupe in the states.

Hell, I'd probably be getting a G81 myself. Now to see if we get a B10 Avant in the states...

Lulz, ... absolute cinema...

Remember how the account you created to impersonate Dalab was never approved?
Very faintly, I actually barely remember, funny you do. Thought it was a generic troll account don’t honestly remember trying to impersonate someone. Not sure what something from years ago has to do with anything.

So much power you have man, I never got approved 😱 , I probably cried so hard I forgot about it.

Seems like it’s been confirmed now the B10 Avant won’t be coming to the states unfortunately. Auditography asked Audi and they said no.

Hagerty said Audi said they're still thinking about it 🤷

I guess the few big mouths demanding these kind of cars in the U.S market have to yell a bit harder ;)

To me it's quite telling when none of the big OEMs want to bring these cars to America. They're simply not wanted enough, Americans hate wagons. And we here all agree that sucks.

Performance wagons are wanted, they're just scared to try with the entry-level performance wagons for some reason. But the demand is 100% there

V60 Polestar wagons are holding their value like crazy here, and the RS 6 Avant outsold both the RS 7 and A6 allroad in the US.

Yeah this whole entry level performance is a whole load of crap, because an M3 costs like almost twice as much as the average U.S car, and there is a whole lot of performance far below an M3.

A Toyota Corolla GR is entry level performance.......in the U.S

Will these be the first M3/M4s with illuminated kidney grilles?
It's strange that they're being presented on the 16th, just two days before the i3.

Maybe a production version of the M3 Touring GT3 Evo concept?

The what lol

It's not yet April 1st.

Yeah, they've already done that...

It likely wouldn't be eligible for anything other than SPX at the N24, but I doubt they'd spend the money to build this for real unless they were aiming for an outright win like they did with the E46 M3 GTR - and I don't think they'd do that given they're already backing a GT3 effort. Since HWA are entering the 190E thing into SPX it would be funny if BMW entered an M3 Touring though...

... but highly unlikely.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
