I’m waiting with eager interest to read if the suspension has been sorted.
Me too, will definitely take one out for a test drive when it arrives.

I reckon you’ll balk at the Cayenne pricing. It’s infuriating that Porsche Australia is getting away with highway robbery. I suppose why not, if there’s enough buyers to pay a premium for a car severely lacking in standard tech and equipment.
That is the real sticking point, the Cayenne starts at $112k, and the Cayenne S at $150k before options, with a drive away price of close to $170k. That is seriously pricy, at least $20k to $40k more than the BMW and Mercedes equivalent. At my part of town, I would say 80% of the Cayenne I see is the standard diesel version, driven by young families.

What I really want to know is what % of Porsche buyers actually select the optional equipment that is standard on the equivalent Mercedes or BMW. When I was specifying a Macan both dealers I dealt with said a lot of buyers didn't add too many options and all those features (radar cruise, lane keeping assistance, LED headlights etc.) were 'Not what Porsche customers want'. I suspect 80% of Porsche customers want the badge more than anything and will forgo what should be standard equipment for the sake of buying a Porsche.

Can't tell you how many times I heard that or a variation of that when I inquired recently about a Panamera. I get it... but it's non-sensical some of the stuff that is (often expensive) optional equipment.

911 sure, but a Panamera 4S/Turbo/Hybrid or a Cayenne S/Turbo? Especially when it's standard conveniences on economy cars a tenth of the price.

Yea, I'm expecting a "they maximize margins better than everyone" response, but it's slightly hard (1st world problems) to transition to any 4 door Porsche when you're used to the option packages of Audi, BMW, MB, etc.

Exactly. I would have bought a Macan last year had I not been faced with the ridiculous scenario of having to spend close to $30K on options for equipment that was standard on a GLC43. That would be $30K down the drain as I would not get it back at the time of resale. At most I would recover $10K of it.

Just want to add one last thing, I had a go in my friend's Cayenne Diesel recently, for $110k AUD, it doesn't have keyless entry, 360 camera, or most active safety features. It was a nice SUV to drive but the lack of these convenience features are not acceptable to me.

Typical MB bullshit.
The large screen we see promoted is OPTIONAL. If you don't get COMAND Multimedia (which is a waste of money with Apple car play) you get a 7 inch screen. As if it doesn't cost more money to have to change up production shifting between the two. Very frustrated.

And you have to get multimedia to get driver's assist. What they hell do those have in common?

One good thing is smartphone integration is standard.

DOG is out.
If anyone can give me some hints on how to share a pdf, I'm all ears.

Just click on "Upload a File". :)

Driver assist now uses COMAND map data to slow the car down in bends etc.

The configurator on Mercedes' German site still isn't running 100%. There are no pictures of the interior.
