A6/S6/RS6 Next Generation Audi A6 (C7)

Audi design has become very predictable. That's not a bad thing, however.

I like their designs. Predictable? Yes. Pleasing? Yes. Sexy? Oh yeah. Clean and futuristic? Yep. These qualities can still be found in your typical current Audi in my opinion.

I think car companies have to play it safe it too. They can't bring out too radical designs because the market won't be ready. Slow, gradual evolution of a design has always tended to work well. :usa7uh:

Probably not accurate, but this is the latest render that's been doing the rounds:

I really wish they would go aggressive on the next A6. Sharper lines and more details. Less of the overall bubble shape. I would hate for it to just end up as a Mid-size A4.

I wouldn´t expect nothing specially agressive having the A7 on the line up now. Probablt that, a mid-size A4.

I've heard the new A6 was spotted in Barcelona last weekend
at the official AUDI AG meeting where they put the
A1 and the Q3 on display... also of course an EU introduction of the A8..

My boss was there yes, the A6 was not show official but "spotted" by
the people that was there. I feel very excited...
Still this year is all about the A1....
:usa7uh: Next year = 2011 = Audi A6

Though the new Audi A6 is still almost a year away from its production debut, details about its construction and platform technology are already leaking onto the web. Building on technologies first developed in the TT platform, the next-generation 2012 Audi A6 is expected to use the lightweight ASF II spaceframe technology as its base.

Audi has developed the Aluminum and Steel Spaceframe (ASF II) technology to provide a platform that weighs half as much as steel, but is one and a half times as rigid. ASF technology allows the chassis to be built from a conglomeration of bonded subframe members, modular nose and tail structures and a passenger cell made of aluminum with steel and foam reinforcements.

Pioneered in the TT, the ASF architecture is expected to become the standard method of construction for all future Audis, making the A6 the first of the new generation. A variation of this is used in the new A8, although the big Audi sedan uses almost full aluminum construction.

A full line of engines is expected for the A6, from a 2.8-liter V-6 pushing 190 horsepower to the top-end 4.2-liter V-8 at 350 horsepower. The V-10 in the current S6 is expected to be replaced a smaller forced-induction unit for the new-generation. Two diesel engines are also expected, a 2.7-liter V-6 making 185 horsepower and a 3.0-liter V-6 with 238 horsepower.

Front-wheel drive is likely to remain standard, but all-wheel drive quattro variants will be available. The new model's styling will move forward with the language of the new A5 and A8 designs.

Expect to see new 2012 Audi A6 make its debut early next year.

Engines :

2,0TFSI - 180hp
2,5TFSI - 204hp
3,0TFSI - 299hp
4,0TFSI - 394hp
S6 - ?
RS6 - ?

2,0TDI - ?
2,7TDI - ?
3,0TDI - 250hp/500Nm
3,0TDI - 300hp/650Nm

These egines have been confirmed by the latest number os Autobild Spain. They claim that, in addition to the new 3.0 TFSI with 300 hp and 450 NM of torque. This will be a very good engine line up from Audi, with a 250, 300 and 350 hp diesels, being the only new one the 300 hp one, as the other two would be same ones as in the A8. they also say the new RS7 (and I supose that I they finally bouild it, the RS6 too) will have a 4.0 TFSI V8 TT engine, with 550 hp.

Autobild Spain has in the cover a bluish A6 sedan, wich looks pretty nice, and the rear of a white A6 Avant. I have to say that, based on this CGs, I like the A6 more than the A7.

This spy pic reveals the a lot of the front and the side profile. The profile looks EXACTLY as the A4 one, wich is basiclly the current A6 side profile with different door handles. The front looks like the champagne render posted a while ago, the front lights are the ones on the A7 Concept.

Is it me, or the only thing that is changed is the front lights' graphics?

It seems so. I very much like the current A6 but I do hope they put more design effort into the upcoming A6 to make it stand out from the extremely homogenous Audi lineup.

Audi design is going right down the drain, as BMW's rises. By this time next year BMW will have a better looking lineup overall than Audi, something I didn't think would happen.

Audi designers are just plain stuck.

Stuck is maybe the right word.

I love the way Audis look right now and think they have a superb lineup - The only problem is the general lack of variety in their playlist. It's like a band that only plays ballads... great ballads, but only ballads.

No matter what is coming from Audi at the moment, you can be sure that it's going to look pretty much like every other "song" from Audi, with 3 verses, a bridge and a key change.

Strangely enough, the same can be said of BMW. Everything post-bangle has been the same predictable song and dance save the Z4.

It's mind-numbingly ironic that the most stuffy brand of the bunch - MB - has the lineup with the most thematic flair and model-to-model individualism.

I'm still looking forward to this A6. The previous A6 was an unsurprising, dull affair - but still handsome as all hell. And we can be sure this A6 will continue that tradition.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
