Really?

I personally can't see any difference.

• Nicer wood trim
• More wood/aluminium trimming on the dash (means less plastic)
• Slightly nicer steering wheel finish
• Nicer shifter
• Better storage space on the inside of the doors (no more netting!?)

I know it might not seem much... but what BMW did is replace the more offensive items with better stuff. I'm not saying this is the best interior or anthing like that (far from it). But I find it's a big improvement.

Yeah has to be! Probably because you can't see too much of the car.

On a serious note I'm still very much NOT a fan of the X3, but the facelift does improve thing incrementally.

I read your post and i'm wonder if you know it will be released de 335d?
Why BMW don't use E92 to launch 335d? Does 3.0L diesel bi-turbo (new X3 engine with 286hp) apears in E92?

It will - in the spring with the facelift.
And the 3er range will get 335d version too by the endo of the year.

Also 6er is to get 635d version with the facelift or just after.

Guys, I just noticed a new detail:

The upper part of the dash where the speed dial and such are is now one big piece from window to window, and not one little hard plastic cover
Nice, and I am sure it now is that 'soft touching' material like all other bimmers

Spinky (welcome, btw), I am positive we will see the 535d engine in all the new 3er models too, including coupe and cc

We can see that comparing the standard equipment of E92 335i and E92 330d, if equals maybe 335d wont be released... at least there was notting official...

One of big gaps of BMW is the gearbox, dont you agree with me?
Audi DSG is amazing (I try it in Audi A3 2.0 TDI)
Mercedes-Benz 7G-Tronic it's amazing too (I try it in Mercedes-Benz CLS 320 CDi)

What BMW can do about this? I hope BMW do something fast because E92 seems to be a stunning car and deservs a better gearbox, at least with same performance of a manual gearbox (DSG and 7G-Tronic have better performance than manual gearbox, something like 0,2 to 0,3 seconds), and with automatic gearbox in E92 335i we see a performance fault like 0,2 seconds related to manual gearbox (numbers of BMW in E92 335i: manual gearbox 5,3 seconds 0-100Km/h, with automatic gearbox 5,5 seconds)

If you look at the differences, you'd believe that BMW had calculated this interior upgrade in advance. IMO, they knew perfectly well that the initial interior would be below their usual standard (I'm not so sure however that the exterior suffered from cost-cutting of some sort?). The first X3 served as a cash-cow: it was a new segment without competitors, so people couldn't compare with other small SAVs. With this facelift, the moment had come to bring this car to the next level, as Mercedes (GLK, 2008?) and Audi (Q5, 2007?) are coming with their compact SUV/SAVs. Take the added wood trim and the alu part on the steering wheel for example: it seems pretty obvious that they had 'reserved' some space for additional trim in advance. Replacing the black plastic (leather?) of the gear lever and the door handles by their alu counterparts isn't very difficult either. Or am I searching it too far?

The automatic in 3er Coupe is a new gearbox from BMW. This gearbox will find its way to the rest bmw line-up as soon as possible.
BMW is also working on a similar gearbox as Audi DSG, noone knows when we will see it though.

it seems the new automatic gearbox of E92 is better than previous, reading the press release "40% faster", but BMW will arrive with a new gearbox one too late, dont you agree? Anyone think this gearbox is a transition?

If SMGI, SMGII and SMGIII (Someone have try one of this gearboxes?) co-existes in BMW M3, BMW M5 and BMW M6 why not use them in other models? Like E92 models

Well SMG was available in the E46 330i/330Ci at one point. But thus far it doesn't look like that was successful enough as the SMG tranny was dropped when the E90 came out.

So far I haven’t heard anything about bringing it back to non-M models… but EniLab would know better than me.

Btw, that golden color is Platinum Bronze (also E93 will debute in it).

And yes, the sport automatic gearbox is a transitional solution until ZSG (DCT) is completely ready. And it will come very soon. SMG will be replaced with a new & better technology - very likely also in M cars.
