X6 BMW X6 Concept & X6 Active Hybrid Concept (official pics & info)

The BMW X6 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV by German automaker BMW. The BMW X6 is the originator of the sports activity coupé (SAC), referencing its sloping rear roof design. It combines the attributes of an SUV (high ground clearance, all-wheel drive and all-weather ability, large wheels and tires) with the stance of a coupé (styling featuring a sloping roof).
Interesting concept but I'm not amazed by looks. Actually, I think I don't like it at all. Side profile looks a bit like C6 and the car/body is too high. Maybe I just have to see it IRL.

Same here. BMW could have done a bit better. The shape is awesome but the design of front and rear leaves you wanting more than just a coupe version of the X5. They could have given it more unique looks.

i dunno.... it looks sooo wierd (un-evenly proportioned). Like the coupe profile from the side. I think I need to see some more pics.

If you look at the Concept X6 Active Hybrid and you can see evidence of the future M model especially at the front where the ground clearance of the X6 will call for larger cooling ducts for the brakes either with standard or BMW's upcoming CBS technology. Evidence can be seen in official sketches of the wider intakes. This is also evident in the rear as well although here it is for cooling around the battery but again more aggressive design form will differ the X6-M from it's counterparts. With dynamic performance control X6 has better chance of being an M car because the X6 is all about performance and this is where it will be marketed as .

People tend to express their dislike when they see something new...and out of the ordinary...like the X6 for example. The majority of car manufacturers are afraid to try something new...so in the end of the day they end up with new designs...that are pretty much a facelift from its predecessor. Take the new A4 for instance. Nothing major has been done to the effect that BMW has done with its models (Z3 Coupe to Z4 Coupe, E46 to E90 and E91 etc).

What I am trying to say is that a new design is hard to get used to...it's hard for the eye to adopt to the new cues of this design...having seen all the other new cars around.

I like cars that are ahead of their time as far as design is concerned...keeping the correct proportions of course. For instance I loved the 147 when it came out in 2001 when it was up against the Golf IV (which looked like a box...) and the A3. I don't, however, like the Brera cause I think the proportions are all wrong (thin in the front...really really fat at the back).

The new X6 has a magnificent design...with curves and lines...really out of the ordinary.

I think that the X6 is one of the most beautiful cars Chris Bangle has designed. THE most beautiful modern BMW out there for me is the Z4 Coupe.

But then again beauty and therefore a nice car design is a very very subjective thing...

Is SCOTT27 prophet of some kind:D ?I´m so pleased with his posts, cross my heart.

Ha ha ha ha...Luw that was hilarious! :D

Vejo01...The reason Scott's post are so good is because he works for BMW's marketing team. LOL

I said that in the first posts in this thread when I saw the hybrid first. the bulge on the hood revealed it.

Looks better than I thought it would. Still seems a bit pointless though, but for some reason, I dont know why, I like it- alot. Why do they bother coming up with this concept version when the production model will look pretty much exactly the same?!

I like it..................... A LOT. The design owns the Cayenne's and the Q7's, not to mention the performance probably will too. Sickness.

Heres a X5 vs X6 comparison I made. Not much bigger it seems.
