I have yet to see the W214 on the street but so far I really like the G60. It looks so different and sporty.

It's hard to to pic each 5er vs the competition along the years. The F10 pics posted on this thread just look great still (especially compared to the terrible looking W212). And I still love the G30 both in pre and post LCI forms.

Who cares about what the media and some non-critical, non-journalistic YouTubers, vloggers and even the printed auto press thinks? I can’t take them serious anymore, with their uncritical attitude and lost faith in them many years ago.
Agreed. The same morons raved about the new c class interior.

I test drove an i5 a couple of days ago. The interior has definitely gotten the cost cutting virus. I admire BMW from sparing the 7-series at least. The car drove wonderfully but I found the exterior to be too inelegant to ever sit in my driveway. It wasn't offensively ugly but not pretty either.

G60 quality👎

You insist even though it has already been clarified several times, what you show has nothing to do with the quality but with the type of material used.

Quality is putting these "apparent" materials with a thickness of 0.00001/2 mm poorly assembled and that sound when you blow on them as if a 4-year-old child had assembled it.
Seeing this beautiful spec in the photo below in appearance and colors and knowing that you will get into something worse than a current Chinese car is embarrassing and a deal breaker for me, the video shows it visually and aurally very clear

To be honest I dont think that the latest BMW, Audi and Mercedes models are built to the same standards as cars from the 80s and 90s when they were in their heyday of really good material and build quality. All of them now are showing cost cutting. They appear to look good but once you press or prod on the components then you notice its not that well built.

I love my W213 E200 interior BUT it does annoy me that the cars materials used in certain places are not up to older Mercedes standards in solidity and are downright cheap in feel.

And the cars of the 80ies can't hold a candle against the interior quality of the Benzes built in the 60ies. Look at the S class interior of the W108 and W109, especially the coupe versions: real wood, not a few microns of wood molecules,. The leather upholstery was so much better, that one could cry looking at the leather quality of cars nowadays.
It's an issue of all times.

The cost of carmaking has increased tremendously in the last 60 years. Safety regulations, emissions regulations etc. have made cars better for us and the environment, so something had to give.
If they're going to cut costs somewhere, I would rather it be the interior (where it's still miles ahead of non-luxury competition) than on the car underpinnings/engineering.
Sure the wood trim is only a thin veneer, but at least I know that if I get t-boned I'm not going to get pulverised into a fine mist.

This is exactly my issue with the G60 when I sat in it when my local BMW dealer got one. The lower panel plastics are all hard touch cheap-feeling plastics, and a lot of them. The seats are wonderful though, but the use of cheap-feeling plastics are abundant.

The soft-touch covered plastics in the G30 were significantly better.

What an ugly pos, this new 5er touring. The biggest joke is, BMW dares to ask € 101.500 for the BMW i5 M60 xDrive Touring. That is without extra's... Adding them, results in € 118.910. The adding price for the extra's is ok, spending only 17% on extra's to have it decently speced , is not bad (for a German "premium"car).

The E is the hands-down clear winner here styling wise IMO.
The shorter overhangs and arching roofline is sleek and far better resolved than the 5-Series.

The new 5 Touring looks miles better than the saloon but the front styling and huge front overhangs spoil the car. The G30 Touring was a much nicer looking car.

I sincerely believe that the T model, without being for the crude and simplistic finish of the last window that is as large as that of a building, is extremely elegant and beautiful in general, my grandmother would look very good driving it.

Rarely the difference in ages to which each vehicle "corresponds" was so marked.

You're making yourself look ridiculous, my friend. You are so pathetic that you can even find fault with the rear window of the T model. The real defect is the rear window of the 5 series, but you cannot accept it. You call what is normal defective. The rear window of the Touring spoils its design.
