I will never forget first time I saw the 1988 750iL with that...
I remember in 1987 as a kid been mega excited to see BMW bring out a V12 in the 7 series and then the same time the 560SEL/SEC debuted. This was the biggest grunge match at the time with the German luxury saloons. The 750iL was very popular with the press, everyone was fascinated about a German saloon with an exotic V12 engine.

I didn't know about this L7 and L6, every once in a while you learn something new, or old.

"Back in the day of the e23 L7 & e24 L6...BMW had to do a lot of fixes for the all leather dash and headliners."

US Branding for models known as Highline in Europe as far as I recall.

E38 L7 nearly had a factory follow up...

Thanks for sharing this, I never knew BMW even considered making an another L7 after the e38. I think they should have made it into production, it would have been a huge hit in some market. Another missed opportunity by BMW…

Looking for more info about it, I could only find the same picture in a comment back in early 2019. If you have more information about it, please share.

I believe the photo was taken by UK based BMW magazine BMW Car. Though I did collect that mag going back to about 1996, I don't have issues recently enough to cover when that photo was taken. I might investigate more.
