My dad had his 3-series E90 since May. Not a single problem, 100% bulletproof. He is 100% satisfied with his choice so far.

Body Interior Quality Design: Taken from the Initial Quality Study (IQS), which looks at owner-reported problems in the first 90 days of new-vehicle ownership, this score is based on problems with the front-/rear-end styling, the appearance of the interior and exterior, and the sound of the doors when closing.

Goes to show MB isn`t doing that bad here...

Man MB gets to little Kudos for what they have done
And especially Dr. Z..
I remember not so long ago..when some ppl here..thougth that MB was over and it would take them Decade's to get back in quality and reliability...

And now that they done it.. ppl just act like nothing:D

So from me
Major Kudos to MB and Dr. Z

Then I have to ask why BMW is doing bad there?
My dad had his E90 for more than 90 days without a single problem.
I really would like to know the problems these owners experience. Without an explanation I cant take these JD Powers based on 90 days seriously.

My view from my expierence with both cars is quality wise the c class is way better.also reliability and no problems in around 15 mounths i own a new c
My cousins 3er int quality was not too good colours fading of door handle and ashtray cover and he dnt smoke so not used much and he did have elecrical problems around 5000km
These are just my expierences and view

The Beemers seems to have a very good reliability, only the Merc a bit better (which is extremely impressive given the freshness of the model compared to an ironed-out Beemer).

It doesn't mean every single 3-Series will have problems, only that slightly more BMW than Merc owners are experiencing problems.

I couldn't agree more with you Artist. Dr.Z made Merc a reliability expert again, and that even if the model's first year... Beating Lexus's old models in reliability with models in their first year, like the W221 or W204 did, is indeed an extraordinary achievment. All that while still maintaining their R&D lead...

My family been driving BMW since year 1994 and reliability and few problems are one of the reasons why we continue buying BMW's. Top on that they look good and nice to drive.

In Sweden BMW's often to better than Mercedes in surveys (Motormännen, Bil Q). Looks like Swedes are more happy with BMW than in US. ;)
In latest survey E90 was ranked above C-class.

Also 90 days aren't a long time, more intresting to see how good the cars are after a couple of years, thats important for those who buy used cars and they are many.

My second post basically explaines itself

"this score is based on problems with the front-/rear-end styling, the appearance of the interior and exterior, and the sound of the doors when closing."

That quality report I just posted above is basically an asthetic report on
and how the overall quality feels and looks to the owners. This has nothing to things breaking down.

So its all subjective then. We all see things differently and not everyone will pay much attention to these surveys or put much trust in it.
As long as me and my family are happy with our cars then these surveys doesn't mean much. Well, its good for bragging rights I guess :D

Same here Artist! ;)

OT: You wouldn`t believe how well the ML and R-Class is doing since last report. These two made the top-5 most reliable activity vehicles in their class! :usa7uh:

It`s not only how the owners see the materials but how the overall quality feels to them as well. These surveys are sent out to owners. If you don`t trust them then you might as well not trust your BMW fans who can afford to buy BMW cars..:D

The JD Power surveys are taken from thousands of 3-Series and C-Class owners. What your seeing is the overall score. Some are happy and some are average. If you ask me both these cars are doing very well. Mercedes should be praised for the great amount of quality thay have put into their latest designs. The previous C-Class (and E-Class) has never looked so great!

Me and my family trust our own impressions and experiences. We don't trust other, only us selves when it comes to cars. :t-roses:
Owning BMW since year 1994 tells us we like our bimmers.

Oh my goodness, are we serious here? All this attention on this crappy survey, which we have agreed many times that it doesn't really mean anything.

JD Power = American survey correct?

How much do you guys want to bet that the reason the 3er got a lower score is because the cup holders?! That's definitely a low point in the 3er's interior, but then again, it was even worse in the E39.

I had an E39, What hapenned with the cup holders?.

Even Swedish magazines have complained on JD Surveys thats its often small redicolous things that determine if the car gets good or bad rating. We swedes doesn't seem to put much trust on J.D Surveys. :t-upside:
