The 1.3 engine in the current A-class is shared with Renault in some models and as @leylandi mentioned the 1.5 diesel K9K engine is from Renault. The Mercedes small platform is designed or does not come from Nissan or Renault, but Infiniti used this platform for their baby Q30 model launched in 2018.

And the Q30 was supposedly not successful and was going to be axed by Infinity.

This may be the first initial drive of the new CLA.

Immensely efficient. Far better interior fit and finish promised. Design appears "acceptable". Perhaps M-Bs most significant EV vehicle and an accurate prelude of what is to come.

So does this replace the current CLA right away or are they sold side by side for a while?

I imagine it would stay side by side with the current until the combustion variant launches, at which point the current cla will be dropped.

I noticed they have finally removed the cheap black, shiny plastic trim on the door cards and replaced with nice-looking aluminium metallic trim—yippee!! Does it look like the seat controls are back to the old style and not capacitive?

@leylandi, thanks for the very interesting photos posted, shame about the shots of the interior seen from the side and not from the front

from the photos it would seem that the screen does not follow a continuous line, but the one on the passenger side is more recessed

Sorry if I intervene again, I took a still image of the interior and the screen extends across the entire dashboard, perhaps you can also notice the camera
