Agree, add to that the steering system was mediocre, the brakes too.

The 9G MCT probably can’t handle the engine’s torque.
Yes it was from the A-Class. The brakes were electric ( W211).

The 9G-MCT can handle 1000Nm, therefore no problem.

I still to this day have never seen a SLR in person. Unbelievable.

I sold the only one allocated to our dealership. We received it late and it ended up sitting for a year. Sold at a massive discount and loss. First and only car that the factory paid me a commission directly. The owner let it sit without driving for years and we had to replace the fuel system. He ended up selling it for $385k back in 2020 through Hagerty. This is the exact unit. https://www.mecum.com/lots/405251/2006-mercedes-benz-slr-mclaren/

It’s a monster of a car, but somehow unfinished.

They blew the budget on the carbon stuff, and therefore had to put the Drivetrain/ Steering rack out of the Mercedes Benz parts bin.

Mercedes and McLaren just had different visions and philosophies on what the car should be resulting in a compromised product, IMO.

Off topic, but the SLS price has gone up more than 100% since its introduction.
They probably ask a pretty penny for the SLR too these days.
The standard SLR is going for about 350K Euros and the 722 about 700K Euros
