Vs W212 E-class vs. F10 5 series (vs. Audi A6)

Maybe when I see the new F10 in person I'll think differently, but I've seen the new E-class, and it is stunning.

I can't vote on the poll though, for there are things that I wish the old 5 has that I wish it still did, and things the new E has that I like...

And where's the A6 exterior and profile pic?

It's hard to judge without having seen both IRL.

I love the E-Class, a commanding design, very powerful. You get what you paid for: a very expensive-looking car, provided you have some wheels on it. Interior's comfortable, exterior's really upscale and distinctive.

The 5er however looks one size smaller than the Merc. It's design is quite tame in fact, but very handsome. Sporty without doubts, but not expensive-looking.

As far as the interior goes, I am not convinced by the newer BMW ones, with that integrated screen: sure no double cap, but it makes the whole dash very high, very heavy, very straight.

This of course could change IRL, but for now I prefer the E-Class. Won't vote untill I have digested the 5er though.

LOL. If they call the car ugly, they'd most definitely be wrong. Ugly it isn't. They're both attractive. They both have their awkward angles in the pictures and they both have fine interiors. It's great that they're both so damn different from each other though. Win win for us all.

IMO the ext of the new 5er is not that commanding and present as the E's but the 5er definitely has a better looking interior.

hey guys this pole came up fast HOH was on a roll..

Well i saw the 5 pics lat night and agian today.I actaully like it less today then last nite.

NO NO NO i do not think the 5 is ugly not at all.It is a good looking car and yes way better then the 7 front.the rear if you look at the picture from dirctly behind it looks good with a mix of the previous 5 and the new facelift 3 lights but bigger.but when you look at it from the side it looks very very odd for some reason..

The front to me is a larger 3 which is not bad looking or anything but a real let down i prefered the side profile with some off the tape on it..as for the interior it is a very good interior the top part where the screen is is very very plastic unlike the 7 i supose they had to downgrade a bit from 7 but the interior is a toatl copy and paste of 7 and the x 5/6 with the 3 er aremrest sort off..

the 5 will be a succes no doubt but i think BMW have gone very tame and very boring i mean how can the 5 .7.x6 all have the same type interior the 7 should definately have its own different styling..


The new E many people dont like the design but to me it is really great and i like the interior i find it so spacious and the best part is when you sit in a E you feel different then from sitting in a C or S i hope mb does not change and also go audi bmw way..Because the one thing i dont like in my gl is that the interior is a copy off the ml it pisses me off..

Anyway my vot is the E for shure..I like and respect the new % but as a car fan i feel BMW could have done much much more with this car for me it feels some lazy or cautious designing.Not something that makes you think off BMW.

I love how the 5 wheels fit very nicely into the wheel arch unlike the rear off the E onsome off them the space is somuch it feels bit naked..MB can learn from BMW here.

I still don't have a strong grasp on the E class design -- I think BMW lost a little edge with this car - it looks good and will definitely appeal to the masses but i like a little more aggressiveness in style..

The E60 was so mean looking.... its going to be hard for me to like this car more..

I actually love this new 5er, much much better than the previous thats for sure, I like the rear of the 5er more than that of the E, but as for front and side profile, INCLUDING the INTERIOR where Id be hanging out most of the time, I prefer the E ...

Waw the more I look at the new 5 the more I like it! I mean it can't look any better, I have to admit that I didn't like the e-class in pics as much as I like the 5 series... The best looking BMW ever.... I love it.. Now I can't wait to see the 6series (my favorite BMW)

When I first saw the new e-class in picture I loved the front, I wasn't very happy with the rear... But when I seen it in person I loved it... Especially with sport-package... Well I guess Some cars look diferant in 2 divisions than 3 divisions (pictures)... So for now I will vote for the new e-class or else my bro Will kill me ... Jk il just wait and see how the new 5 looks in person and make my last judgments... Can't wait

BMW have lost it's key competitive advantage -- their models no longer carry a unique identity. The front of the 5er resembles the LCI E90, X1 and F01. IMO the E60 was a much more distinct and powerful design as opposed to the F10 which looks like a generic BMW of 2009 flavour.

Mercedes are the new BMW and BMW are the new Audi.

Or, you could simply say BMW is back to where it has always been. BMW is not the new Audi. Audi is the old BMW (though even more extreme in terms of family resemblance)

As far as comparison between W212 and F10 go: exterior is so different from eachother people really have to choose for themselves. Interior though, 5er >>>>>> E klasse. Like 5er is a whole class above the E.

I like both very much. The F10's proportions and side profile are perfect but so are pretty much the E-Class'. However the more appealing interior design (IMO) and the sportier impression that I get from the 5er is just enough to make me choose it over the W212.

The interior is very appealing too, and reminds me of those good old Merc I love so much.

The 5er on the other hand is pretty but seems to lack character a bit, which is why I prefer the 7er to it so far.

Well I don't like the E-sedan, but love the E-coupe. So I must be on the same boat.

But the issue is that should have been the design for the 90's. Box Benzs ruled in the 90's, but the W221 is fantastic because it has a flowing design. The 5 series has the same thing.

The E-class is bold and dramatic, but no where near as elegant as the W211. The 5 series went from dramatic to elegant. Personally right now I prefer elegant.
