Which one based on design?

I read the interview on bimmertoday that the F10 is faster than the E60 in slalom course, even if the former is much heavier. That is a sign of effectiveness. How does they compare in terms of driver involvement?

E60 vs F10, or W212 vs F10? :D

I'm sure the F10 with all the active systems will be more refined to drive - more matured. Eg. like E85 Z4 vs E89 Z4.

But ... the true comparison will be between cars without optional active equipment.

Yet I guess the difference will be the same - F10 being more mature & stable on the road. More dynamic, handling better - but more refined (easier to drive) - meaning a bit "numb" compared to the outgoing model.

Nothing surprising here - it's happening with every new Mk of every BMW series. :usa7uh: Cars moving upscale, becoming more mature & refined.

But overall the F10 drives MUCH better than E60 - that will be even more evident in M5 case.

Dude, European users see the new E-klasse at least 20 times a day every day they go out on the street. There's aready a million E-klasse Taxis here...

Well Im not in europe, im in L.A, where you dont see them 20 times a day YET, the car is still fresh, so everytime I see it I put a stupid face on, and ive only seen then in sport package, so thats probably why I like it so much .. There, happy now ?

I think this E has lost the grace that all previous E had, and I think this started with the FL W211, the angular bumpers were just unnecessary in my point of view.
And i think it's pretty safe to say the BMW this time round, looks more integrated than the Merc. The E's interior is nearly a BMW copy imo, the front piece of trim like that... i know the E came out first but this new breed of BMW interior has been around since the latest X5/7series.

I'm starting to like the look of the W212, but I voted for the F10 because it was love at first sight.

I think the W212 is best in black and in AMG form. The 5 series has an edge because it probably will look good in any color and doesn't need an M package.

After looking at the two in this photo the E-class is far more aggressive. It's just the rest of E-class design that I have an issue with.

Yes, the two cars have switched places. Previously, the 5er looked aggressive with the E looking soft. Now we see the opposite.

OK, you guys obviously don't know what aggressive means. :D

Having a mean look (face expression) DOES NOT mean being aggressive. Aggressiveness of the car is more complex - it has to have that predatory overall pose, not just a mean look.

E-class sure has one, but the car is FAR from being aggressive. Having seen both 5er & E IRL almost next to each other I would hardly call E an aggressive car. It looks rather mechanical.

Putting an angry or mean expression on a sheep's face does not make it a wolf! :usa7uh:

E: meaner look, perhaps. Having more aggressive appearance in general: Not at all!

You'll see it soon on your own.

:t-cheers:

Gosh, when will this discussion end. Aggressive here, sporty there. Guys, the E-Class is not a DTM racer. It's a executive luxury car and it not meant to resembles a mechanical beast ready to attack every corner on the road. If your sentiment is "The E-Class isn't aggressive or muscular" then it's clearly not an E-Class you don't. It would be like going into an English resturant and whining about the food not being spicy enough when what you truly should be eating is Indian or oriental food.

The vast majority who wants an E-class do not want it to look aggressive and for those who want a subtle sporty touch there is the Sport package or the E63. I might represent a small minority but I love the way the E looks in elegance trim, especially in blue or burgendy with 5 spoke rims. That's how I like the E-Class, elegant and simple. And yes, I love the rear-end design.

centurion mate i am with you all the way on this one for those who want the fully and pure elegant E you get the elagance and for me who would like it a bit more agressive or sport looking there is the stunning sports/avan option..

I say agian i love the E class built like a tanks looks great ...

^Never thought a bar of soap would look aggressive to ppl either;)

Me neither, but this is about E-klasse vs 5er.....no need to get Audi involved.
Also, the two best features of the AMG version over the regular E-class:

  • not those ugly aftermarket looking LED lights with a bend in the front bumper. Just a straight line and not in the middle of the air hole
  • that chrome line on the side doors. It's not even straight. The AMG side looks so much better without it.

Fair enough. It's just that comments like 'have you seen the car in person' need not be asked anymore. Everybody here has seen that car irl, and a lot less people like it compared to the W211. I personally think the new E has much more character than the old one, though. Just not happy with the interior, still (granted, the most time I've spent in the new E is 10 minutes, MAX)
