It's all very nice with the dozens of presentations we're seeing and that keep coming, but we're talking about BMW, and going through this period where the life cycles of current BMW coupes have reached the end of their lifespan, it's impossible not to feel a deep longing, or not crave like food someone on a diet, or an ex-smoker in withdrawal, to see prototypes that in other times should already be on the road as a new generation of the Z4, 6 or 8 series, 4 series, and/or anything new with only two doors.

4- and 2-series coupes are with us for another 3 years at least. There might not be a new big coupe on the cars for a while, but there's still two in the line-up, and it's potentially still to soon to expect to see their replacements testing.

There's a certain exotic look to the E89 with the curvier coke-bottle design I love so much. And the way the rear fender line flows into the taillights, and the front fender line flows into the headlights!
I'd like to add, the tasteful, retro nod in the "bubble top" design:

Oversimplifying the model range and the prudent approach (with very long product materialization and/or market launch) shows that BMW has sadly become a car company run by accountants and financiers rather than people with a common sense on the company’s history of successful models. The current management lacks that the capacity to be bolder. New BMWs, despite otherwise being good cars, will become soulless like appliances. Coupes seem to be a dead species, not to mention convertibles and roadster. Even GTs could have been developed as to sell like hot cakes. Gran Coupes also seems to go extinct in a few years, and the absence of a real halo car and/or supercar becomes even more acute. Right now and true for the coming years as well, the BMW Neue Klasse lineup will be just a mix of SAVs/SACs, followed by some sedans, tourings and hatchbacks. Very uninspiring.

You're talking about the very core. The money makers, the ones that enable the others.
I haven’t seen anything like this in the plans for next years. It can hardly be said that the core models enable the others, since the trend will actually be reversed. Maybe it was the case 15-16 years ago, but in the last 5 years not so much, not to mention the near future.

What do you mean? Had gone somewhere?
The BAYERISCHE MOTOREN WERKE, written as seen, is/was a marketing move depicting the upper echelon of BMW models. Namely the BMW Oberklasse lineup (as indicated on ther German website). Or as some said around here on the forum - GKL (Gran Klasse Luxus).

It seems that BAYERISCHE MOTOREN WERKE bounces back as marketing motif and standpoint as the G7x LCI 7 Series gets inducted.

Introduced in 2017.It covered the 7, 8 and X7. The latter 2 appearing as concepts. In 2019 the LCI 7er and production 8 and X7 and the M8.
Funny enough they use it for Skytop and Speedtop.
