I prefer the S550 moniker over the S500 it soounds more modern and intune with the the rest of the lineup

German luxury car giant Mercedes Benz will officially unveil the W222 S-Class model on the 15th of May 2013. The 2014 next generation version of the Mercedes Benz S-Class luxury saloon is expected to be priced about 10% higher than the outgoing W221 version of the car. Considering the slew of new features that the W222 model of the 2014 S-Class will bring to the table, buyers might not really mind the 10% price increase for the new model. Opulence is the name of the game in the W222 S-Class.

I would speculate that the release of the first official presentation photographs will rekindle a now somewhat waning (relative, of course) enthusiasm with regard to the W222 S-Class. There was simply far too much hype for a car that is in essence evolutionary. But the W222 will undoubtedly look very handsome in elegant metallic paints, large rims and with leather, wood, carbon and brushed metal laden interiors. And it will almost certainly be a commercial success for M-B. Just how enduring the honeymoon will be shall be decided within the next 3-4 years time when we shall see an onslaught of new competitors such as the upcoming BMW 7 series successor, the D5 Audi A8, the series II VW Phaeton and a new Jaguar XJ series.

If all that comes as standard, the 10% increase is ok. But I'm almost sure it doesn't. All the gimmicks are extra (money). Here in Germany for sure. So I'm not to happy about that 10%. Though I expected it to be from about € 80.000 (S 350 CDI). Which is circa 5% increase. A 10% increase means in Germany prices would start form circa € 84.000 (S 350 CDI).

It is evolutionary in styling. But this car is not about styling, its about technological showcase. And that cannot be evolutionary, otherwise it will be pointless. I don't really care about its looks, it is a four door limousine for sake... But as a shape of things to come...

I'm dying to know what are the benefits of having those two 12.3 inch screens. They are not there for aesthetic purposes. and they must have some interesting function. I want to know what MagicBodyControl feels like while driving. I want to see those LED's doing their job better than xenons. I want to know about the aerodynamics, and weight saving, and quietness and comfort. About all the gadgetry. That is what I'm craving for in this car.

Looks are already familiar for quite some time...

^Finally you contribute something to this thread!

Good going..

If its true..if not.. expect rep like the RR post:D

Well, tomorrow is the day then. Scott is slowly, but surely, becoming Benz insider as well:p

Not likely. His posts in this thread (most of which have been deleted) have consistently been to discredit the S in one form or another.

May 15th, 2013....

The day the W222 S-class shall officially be revealed. Also the day that GCF's website will probably crash.
