Here is an article from Georg Kacher, known for its knowledge ofr the upcomming Mercedes models. He claims to expect 6 variants of the new S-Class. The google translator is so bad, but I see:

- SWB S-Class
- LWB S-Class
- S Coupe (replacement of the CL)
- S Cabrio
- S600 Pullman (different design than the S-Class, 3 lateral windows, expected to be the natural succesor of the old 600)
- S-Class based 4 door Coupe.

The new 600 and the S 4 door coupe will be something big. Mind the 600 is gonna compete in terms of everything with the Mulsane and the new Phantom. The 4 door coupe will be something unique in the market. Only a 7 Series Gran Coupe can compete against it.

BTW, the article aslo makes reference to the new V12 Mercedes is developping.

It would be upper CLS. Based on the S-Class, as the CLS is based on the E-Class. I don´t think CLS and E-Class share too many things, apart fomr the mechanics.

Agreed, if I would ever drive a convirtable it wheel be a four door one.
With exception of the SLS, I'm not fond about 2 door cars.
