Even with what has leaked everybody is yet waiting for more. It gets the hype so high, and I know the S Class will live up to the hype. I can't think of any recent launch event that was a huge as this one. And Mercedes is very smart, this is already like an advertising compaign. The continue the reveal as if nothing leaked. That is very classy.

Btw, Lešnik has been Head of Exterior design @ MB for quite a while now. Don't be surprised if he succeeds Wagener sometimes since he seems to be Wagener's protege.

I remember reading your comment years ago as a reference point. Considering that development would've started in late 2006-early 2007, how would he join the S-Class design process so late? Usually MB spends a few years on the design phase of R&D and not 6-9 months, so a 2009 start actually seemed a little too late to me.

I have to wonder what is happening internally when test mules are sent out, as Feb. 2010 was when they first showed up and the IEX testers from Dec. 2010. Sometime between January 2009 and October 19, 2010 the W222 had to be frozen, but at least many months before IEX test cars went out.

BTW, Wagener is rather too young, so he might stay there as long as Bruno Sacco even did and be forced to retire due to age. I think that Karim Habib left Mercedes-Benz for that reason.

I got driven from Frankfurt to Basel in one of these on Sunday (perks of flying with Emirates)

Anyway, it was a 350 CDI. Even though it had reclining seats in the rear, I was shocked at how basic it was. Comfortable, but basic. Really needs Nappa leather.
