1 Series [Spyshots] BMW 1-Series Sedan

The BMW 1 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since 2004. Positioned as the entry-level model in BMW range of products, the first generation was produced in hatchback, coupé and convertible body styles.
We want to have more details now

Well as reported earlier Toyota are looking at developing A GT86 Sport Sedan off the new joint architecture for the next model cycle. Whilst for Munich nothing has come to light but is in discussion is extending the Z family to include a four door and possible Shooting Brake-esque SAV. Nothing is confirmed either way as yet. It is certainly a niche to be investigated.

I would like to see a shooting brake ... And it seems that Mercedes will launch also a shooting brake for its next A class generation

At first I was like "OMG, we will see E46 days all over again" and I almost cried of joy. That was until I read the three most loathed letters in the bimmer section, F W and D. Seriously, if this is front wheel driven, then this will be the end of my love for BMW.

The next step will be to introduce their first FWD motorcycle and then try to overtake Toyota's sales.

(n):facepalm::confused:

Something along the lines of the Z3 Coupe or Z1 Coupe prototype would make a nice competitor to the upcoming Audi TTQ.

A FWD BMW compact sedan. What a cynical, money-spinning crock of defecation. Talk about betraying your heritage, your fans/customers and one of your key value proposition elements: tangibly superior driving dynamics. [yes, that's what RWD still does]

Agree but It's a question of profitability for the BMW group ... The BMW brand has to increase the number of cars based on the ukl platform the currrent 1-séries is not enought profitable for the group

Except BMW knows that most owners of cars this size don't care which end is driven, they already know most 1 series owners thought they had a FWD car. For this kind of car BMW could buy a Kia badge engineer it and it would sell like hotcakes.

Not totally agree because BMW fan Like me prefer à 1 séries to an audi a3 or MB A class regardant the fact That It's à RWD and av aimable With a 6 cylinder engine even it's turbo

A big reason for that is BMW stopping their RWD-touting advertisements and replacing them with cafe-latte-frappacino-drinking metrosexuals in the "Joy" adverts. It was clear from that moment that their target market isn't driving enthusiasts but the high-income, IT consultant, hipsters.

Then do a survey - and we have to take their word for it that it was actually done - which says 80% of 1 Series drivers think their car is FWD. No shit Sherlock!

You are one of the exceptions, anyone who buys the M235 or M135 will be in the same boat as you, but since most 1 series are 116, 118, 120D's, does it really make much difference to these people which end is driven?

What it means is that it's giving people a reason to now look at the A3 and A-Class, and taking away brand-distinction. It's doing long-term damage to the brand. Already BMW's image as being a "premium" manufacturer is in jeopardy with their quest for ever-increasing sales. BMW's are as ubiquitous as Ford's and Opel/Vauxhall's now.

Don't know if he was joking or not but he said he won't be buying another X1 or 1-series if they go FWD (my father is soon to be 65).
