1 Series [Spyshots] BMW 1 Series F20/21 Facelift (LCI) Spy pics/renders/discussion

The BMW 1 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since 2004. Positioned as the entry-level model in BMW range of products, the first generation was produced in hatchback, coupé and convertible body styles.

Nope, no M1 Sport hatch. You're wrong this time.

What I said was they were evaluating the potential of such a vehicle especially in Europe. It is not a done deal but because of its ability to "share" therefore be profitable and cost effective to develop it is something being investigated.

A similar thing happened with the 1er M Coupe. There is a narrative to exploit here and that is BMW has the potential produce a hatch that can rival the best hatches out there such as the Audi S3/RS3 and the Mercedes A45 AMG.
As I said its not a confirmation but if we see 135is with swollen wheel arches then we know something is going down.

I hear you, but still no 1M hatch. Not in this generation for sure. Plus margins on a 1M hatch will be so low that it just doesn't make sense.

Just like the 1er M Coupe.

Stop hyping vaporware Scott. We all know no 1M is coming.

And the keyword of 1M coupe was/is the coupe part. A hatch doesn't sell in the U.S, and that alone is enough reason not to make it for BMW's greedy a$$...

But the US should go hatch! It's the perfect choice for a country built around driving alone in cars :)

A big U.S SUV will drive over it and the driver won't even notice ;)

If you know the story of how the 1M came to life, then you would realize how right we are. 1M was never planned! Was a rogue project and made sense back then. 1M hatch? Not so much and the coupe also used to have bigger margins than now the 1er Hatch.

If that ever happens, will certainly come back here and acknowledge how wrong we are and that our sources are just wrong all the time.

Just like the 1er M Coupe.

its too late for a M version, just forget it. making investments on something that is 4-5 years old? not just the looks but everything else. The F20 is NOT new, even the LCI won't change that, and we expect BMW to make a M version out of something like that? I can foresee special editions, with special colours and performance parts, perhaps a more aggressively tuned engine that's all. And i think the hatch, in general, globally, never had too great an image, from the E87 until now so it won't be easy. Side topic but i really do admire how MB turned the A-class, which by definition meant a cheap ugly van, into a hatch that most people thinks is a cool car.

4-5 years into the life sounds like somewhere Audi would soon have made an RS-version. Afew years ago.

Spied BMW 1-Series facelift prototype hides much needed cosmetic changes

Can't come soon enough
The three-door BMW 1-Series facelift has returned in an additional batch of spy photos.

One of the main reasons why BMW's 1-Series model has never been a success in terms of sales has to do with its controversial design as it mixes a rather awkward front with a generic rear. The incoming Life Cycle Impulse aims to fix these weaknesses with an updated front fascia which will likely take cues from the 2-Series. Expect to find a redesigned front grille with reshaped bars while the headlights seem to be more refined.

Some changes at the back are also planned as according to our spy photographers the hatch door appeared to be slightly wider. In addition, the taillights will receive updated graphics and could be pushed a bit to the sides.

On sale since 2011, the second generation BMW 1-Series will probably receive its well-deserved facelift at the beginning of October during the Paris Motor Show and will go on sale before the end of 2014.

Back to the 1er. Very little minor changes not extensive , but a more fuller facia with less exposed metal at the front.
We will see the car introduced later this year.

So, nothing really radical ... apart from connecting kidney grille to the unchanged headlight cluster & graphics, and a bit redesigning bumper lines. And that's obviously it. No headlight redesign at all.

What about these quotes from a couple of pages back?
The facelift will have a new front and a new rear, anything you guys would like to add?
