G-Class [Spyshots] 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class (W464)

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, colloquially known as the G-Wagon or G-Wagen (as an abbreviation of Geländewagen), is a four-wheel drive luxury SUV manufactured by Magna Steyr (formerly Steyr-Daimler-Puch) in Graz, Styria, Austria, and sold by Mercedes-Benz. Originally developed as a military off-roader, later more luxurious models were added to the line. In certain markets, it was sold under the Puch name as Puch G until 2000.

I’m somewhat let down by the interior. It doesn’t look expensive enough. I like the current interior better. RR still has a nicer interior.

It's not supposed to be as nice as the RR interior. This is still supposed to be the rugged model. The GLS will be covering the ultra luxury front.

Did you guys notice the inlay on the inside edge of the speedometer housing? Nyce!!!!!!! The design interior look special. I cannot wait to sit in this car.

The clock should have been where the differential locks are. Nobody uses those these days.

100% Why use valuable realestate for a feature 99% of the target audience won't use?

That's one of the best marketing gimmicks of all time. Overcharge and deliver less because we need to keep the car 'rugged'.

4 things i dont like about the new G-force-wagon :) :
1.) The external mirrors should be more cubic, now they will be the same as at W222/W213/W205
2.) The doorhandles are a big shame. Not because they wouldnt look cool, but they are a copy-paste of the ones of RangeRover
3.) The ''shelf'' on the door-panel is too much falling, so the hand would not be able to rest as it had in the previous models, where the shelf was almost straight. Now the hand will falling down..
4.) The aluminium around the airvents is too much rounded. I know it should remember on the front lights, but everything else in the car is cubis, so i would rather have them more cubic.
But yeah overall the car is great and beautiful !

It's good, but it's far from perfect. I think that the Range looks far more luxurious in the inside.
That is NOT the G-wagen niche. But, this interior is just as impressive. Particularly with the NTG 5.5. If you guys haven't experienced the tech platform then you are missing out. It is off the charts.

I don’t even know why you took the time to explain something that is widely known. Since we’re splitting hairs, the interior DOES NOT look expensive enough for a vehicle that starts at 100K+. Also, the 3 spoke steering wheel looks completely out of place.

The current interior definitely looks more expensive.

Jeez, lots of little criticisms without seeing the interior in person. The current interior was a tacked-on visual mess and is aging badly. That is (along with NVH & ride quality) what kept some from buying one - and sticking with the Range.

The new interior strikes a balance between rugged and premium.

Geländewagen is prized for its exterior, not interior.

Having said that, the new interior is too soft for such a rugged vehicle. Incongruous.

You need new glasses, the new one looks way more luxurious and uses better looking materials in the interior. Compare all black vinyl dash to the new one with aluminium and stitched faux leather and more metal inserts on switches etc. the new one looks and hopefully feels more expensive inside.

360 degree interior videos with 2 trim colours and wood trim. Interior looks fantastic, perfect for this vehicle.

Interesting to see MB's first implementation of wood/trim around the infotainment screen. I think it's a nice touch.

I keep looking at "Official" and "G-Facelift" thinking this is the new one, we really should STOP using this thread for the new model. It isn't a facelift and it is really isn't related this one. We have a spy thread for the new one.
