G-Class [Spyshots] 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class (W464)

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, colloquially known as the G-Wagon or G-Wagen (as an abbreviation of Geländewagen), is a four-wheel drive luxury SUV manufactured by Magna Steyr (formerly Steyr-Daimler-Puch) in Graz, Styria, Austria, and sold by Mercedes-Benz. Originally developed as a military off-roader, later more luxurious models were added to the line. In certain markets, it was sold under the Puch name as Puch G until 2000.

That was an extremely clever way to foreshadow the G's appearance in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. I think it's a given seeing as though Mercedes had a huge spot in Jurassic World and The Lost World.

Totally unchanged exteriar design except for modernization of the front and tail lights with LED's and a few slight detail changes it may pass as a face lift. Technically this will be a big change from the original model but you wouldn't know it just looking at the exteriar.

I do like it though and it's going to sell like hotcakes despite a hefty price

Mirrors do not match the rest of the car... and what is the black plastic under them?
E class mirrors?

I was hoping for a bigger update in terms of design but I understand why they didn’t do it. It’s impossible to change/revolutionize iconic design. I.e. coke bottle, Smeg, Apple, Zippo, and g class.

Yeah there's very little room for change if MB want to keep the unique boxy look of the G-Class.

No, it won't be. As it is not in the AMG GT. Or practically in any production car. It is ALWAYS metallized plastic today. If time allows, I will share some current examples in here in the coming days.

Could have sworn it was real....

Tnx Busty, and please share those examples. Would be nice if you made a new thread!

Brilliant.

5/5

OK im sold.....I love it!

Same here. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Few had complaints about the exterior design. The handling and driving characteristics were in desperate need of modernization and the interior needed a redesign. Mercedes have delivered what's necessary and this car will be loved by both die hard G fans but also win customers who want a status symbol that's easy to drive.

Imagine if you could have a Porsche 993, Ferrari 355 or a 2012 Aston Martin Vantage with 2017 internals?

Did nobody of you noticed the
completely rounded D-pillar?
For me the cubic looked better, because the whole car is cubic, but with that rounding they want to give a shot to the customers how the all new G will look like (some similarities with the concept)

I am very curious about the process involved in "metalizing" plastic components. It is any different from existing metal plating process?
