To be fair, those seat controls are mainly a Mercedes thing and the window controls are on top of the sill in the current G-Wagen too.

Always count on MB to go cheap somewhere in non-S-class interiors. The plastic airbag cover is the another eyesore.

The full nappa dash top trim and door trim is going to be an expensive option. The MB tex trim is not the best but not the worst either, it feels much more leather like than other manufacturer's attempt at fake leather.

I love it!!!! WOW. I can't believe they've modernized it so much. Who cares about the starter button or the airbag cover!?!? This is a winner and it's always been a parts bin vehicle. The most important things are how it drives on road and how comfortable the interior is. And also the updated technology. Judge the S_Class by it's airbag cover or starter button.

What an event this car will be. It might be Germany's first true rival to the G-Class both in style, heritage, creature comforts and driveability. The absence of swirls and swooping lines give the interior a different chracter than other Mercs.

Love

• Front and rear passenger doors are beautiful! Rectangles with rounded corners give the interior a retro and calming characters.
• Turbine air vents with metal surrounds at either end of the interior are flush with the design.
• Inlay on the front passenger grab handle - wood looks at home on it.
• LOTS and LOTS of inlay surrounding the command touchpad.

Dislike

• The centre console with the stack of turbine vents, HVAC controls and poor placement of the clock isn't harmonious - it gives an otherwise well throughout out interior, a parts-bin look.
• Limited usage of leather on the doors. Maybe there will be a full leather interior option?
