Q3 / RS Q3 [Spyshots] 2018 Audi Q3

The Audi Q3 is a subcompact luxury crossover SUV made by Audi. The Q3 has a transverse-mounted front engine, and entered production in 2011.
If they duplicate the Q5 on a smaller scale perfectly they'll have a hit here in the U.S. The rest of the world seems to be tired of Audi's current design though?

Ha! There is even a rotary dial for fan speed. I don't think any other premium/luxury car has one. That takes ease and speed of use to a level above the touch screen based HVAC controls in the A6 and A8.

I think the new Q3 will be a home run inside and out.

Audi just revealed the new Q8 and Q2. It rolled out a new Q7 in 2015, and the current Q5 just last year. And it has a new E-Tron EV coming soon. That leaves the Q3 as the oldest crossover in its lineup. But the German automaker is working on that, as these spy shots reveal.

Though we’ve seen prototypes for the new Q3 running around under disguise, this is the first time we’ve seen it in the bear metal. And it looks suitably modern, bearing familiar design cues from its newer and larger stablemates. Note the wider trapezoidal grille, the thin angular headlights, the more sculpted flanks, and the altogether more grown-up silhouette.

Introduced back in 2011, the current Q3 is also one of the oldest models in its class. The Cadillac XT4 and Lexus UX were just revealed, following the Volvo XC40 and Jaguar E-Pace last year. Infiniti introduced the QX30 in 2016, BMW the current X1 in 2015, and even the Mercedes GLA arrived in 2013. It’s an increasingly competitive market segment, and with the introduction of this new model, Audi will be keen to keep it share of the pie – and maybe grow it a bit, too.

Last year, Audi sold just over 20,000 Q3s in the United States, placing it third behind the X1 and GLA – but well ahead of the QX30 and Range Rover Evoque, which itself is starting to show its age and is soon due for replacement (to join the new Land Rover Discovery Sport).

We’ve been expecting Ingolstadt to roll out the new Q3 sometime later this year. Given the preparedness evident in this latest pre-production prototype, we have ever reason to believe that it’s running on schedule – so watch this space.

The XC40 is shitting all over every car in this class. I hope the new Q3 will match the Volvo's interior space, refinement and ease of driving - but with a much more intuitive infotainment and HVAC controls.

No More Camo: 2019 Audi Q3 Rendered In Production Form

The official reveal is likely around the corner.
Last week, a batch of spy shots allowed us to see the next-generation Audi Q3 almost in full, with only a little bit of camouflage on the edges of the headlights and taillights. We’ve decided to fire up the Photoshop machine to transform those images into high-resolution renders that might as well be official pictures.

While the exterior design will not represent a major departure compared to the current Q3, the revamped luxury crossover is set to gain a more sophisticated look as seen recently with the Q8 flagship SUV. The similarities between the two high-riding models are going to be noticeable at the front, specifically the shape of the headlights and the updated grille. As for the rear end, the smaller model won’t be able to match the pizzazz of the sportier-looking Q8, which for the time being is Audi’s only SUV with full-width taillights.
Expect the new gen to bring an increase in size considering the Q3 has stopped being Audi’s entry-level crossover ever since the launch of the Q2 in first half of 2016. It needs to grow to distance itself by offering extra room inside the cabin and in the trunk, as well as additional technology to better rival the BMW X1 and Mercedes GLA.

While our renders are only showing the exterior, previous spy shots have allowed us to take a peek inside the cabin where the overhauled crossover will ditch the analog dials for a fully digital instrument cluster. It will also lose the tablet-styled infotainment system for the latest MMI nicely integrated in the center console.

Audi is likely on the verge of introducing the new Q3 and should have it on sale by year’s end in Europe and a little bit later in the United States. Before the end of the decade, the crossover will spawn a “coupe” sibling taking the shape of a first-ever Q4 to rival the BMW X2 and a very possible Mercedes GLA Coupe.

This car could start eating into the Q5s lion share of sales. Having sat in the the XC40 and Skoda Karoq, I am impressed by how the interior packaging of smaller SUVs have become so good that you can downsize without losing much practicality.
I tested the new x3 and i have the impression that has the same space as the first gen x5

The only remaining advantage the X5, GLE, XC90 and Q7 have over smaller SUVs, is the ability to fit three child seats on the second row.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
