Agreed, most can be found at your local junkyard today. I haven't seen one on the road in years, not even the S8.

The D2 was realesed before Audi became the high build quality Audi we know today. Audi's dealer network in the 90's was a joke.

I've actually noticed a couple on the road lately.

Perhaps the way ahead of its time aluminum body made repairs expensive and thus insurance companies were quicker to write them off.

Yup, like the A2. Once damaged, you can pretty much write them off. Repairs are more expensive than what the car is worth.

Under the tarp, I perceive an automobile with an oddly short bonnet and rather steep windscreen. Visually a bit unsettling. Perhaps merely the angle of the camera. Perhaps something that will not be so pronounced on SWB versions.

Otherwise, I'm liking some details and the interior. The July 11th presentation summit in Barcelona will be undoubtedly interesting.

It's really sad indeed. Might be an idea to keep those bloggers blindfolded though, I like that idea.

As for the car....I guess the techno interior goes well with the Louis XIV interiors of Benz and the traditional interiors of BMW. Something for everybody. For me the Audi interior is going way over the top in trying to be cool and modern. These trendy interiors are not going to age well at all.
