I'm anxious to see the cockpit and its control of the next generations of Audi's. :)

The renders look cool, but what makes u think the new a7/a8 will be so radically new in terms of design?
Look at the new q7,a4.... They are boring. A4 looks looks almost like the old one.

A6/A7/A8 are under Marc Lichte...The A4 and the Q7 not

So the Lichte approach was too radical and Audi pushed to get back to conservative styling? That sounds like what happened with the Q7 and the A4. I have a hard time believing the you bring someone to move forward the design and then you push it back again. Does not make sense.

Next generation Audi A7 Sportback chassis testing mule spied
Our spies have sent us a few images with Audi's second generation A7 Sportback spotted as a chassis testing mule.

It’s futile to talk about the car’s design as it was wearing the body of the outgoing model, but from a previous report we found out the distinctive rear end will be droppedin favor of a more conventional look as a consequence of complaints received by Audi from customers who are not too happy with the droopy back of the current version.

Expect the next generation A7 to be a little bit wider than today’s model and also lower to create a design that will “combine subtle elegance with extroverted sportiness”, according to Automobile Magazine. The styling will be heavily influenced by the Prologue conceptand apparently Audi’s March Lichte chief designer will implement more bulged fenders and a fresh take on the single frame front grille. It’s also getting sharper headlight clusters and will likely grow in size to accommodate a more spacious interior.

Speaking of which, the cabin will eschew some of the physical buttons and knobs as Audi will integrate some of the controls in the infotainment system which will likely come with a bigger touchscreen display while the Audi Virtual Cockpit fully digital instrument cluster will obviously be offered.

Riding on the MLB Evo platform shared with the next-gen A6, Audi’s overhauled Sportback model will go through an extensive weight loss program and is rumored to get an inline four 2.0-liter gasoline engine benefiting from e-turbo tech that will enable a 326 bhp (243 kW) output. The engineers from Ingolstadt are also working on two hybrid versions, one with a four-cylinder engine and the other with a larger V6.

Audi will introduce the all-new A7 Sportback in the second half of 2017, following the market launch of the next generation A8 and A6. March Lichte said that out of the three, the A7 will have the most radical styling and promised the three models will have a more differentiated design.

Design doesn't seem to stray away too far from the current model.
The second-generation Audi A7 was spotted for the first time in October last year, but that one was merely a chassis testing mule. Now, we are probably looking at a prototype carrying the production body, or at least some bits and pieces that will be found on the final car. From what we are seeing in the attached spy images, we are tempted to say the design is more of the same. However, it’s best we should reserve our final judgment until the car’s official reveal set to occur most likely in the second half of 2017 or early 2018.

While the model you see on the roads today stands out from the current crop of Audis mostly thanks to its distinctive rear end design, its replacement will feature a ‘more mainstream butt,’ according to a Car & Driver report from more than a year ago. The prototype spied from afar was wearing an extensive amount of camouflage, so it’s hard to say whether the four-door coupe’s derrière will lose its uniqueness.

The A7 along with the forthcoming A6 and A8 will be Audi’s first models to debut a new styling language derived from the rather stunning Prologue concept. It’s tricky at this point to notice any similarities, but at least we can see Audi does not have any plans to reduce the size of its massive singleframe grille. For what it’s worth, Audi’s design boss March Lichte, has promised the A7 is going to have the most radical styling of the three.

Ingolstadt’s second take on the A7 Sportback is making the switch to the MLB Evo platform which will enable a considerable weight loss, although exact details about the planned diet are scarce at the moment of writing. While the prototype doesn’t seem bigger when compared to the current model, the wheelbase could be stretched a little bit to create a more spacious interior with additional rear legroom.

As you would expect from a model positioned almost at the top of the food chain, the CLS / 6-Series Gran Coupe fighter will come with the best Audi has to offer in terms of technology and most likely the all-digital Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster is going to be standard across the range.

Some of the engines will be borrowed from the latest Q7, and it will be interesting to see whether the SQ7’s 4.0-liter V8 TDI featuring an electric powered compressor will serve as foundation for a hot diesel A7 derivative. With the Volkswagen Group’s plans for a green push, expect at least a hybridized version and we won’t be too surprised if further down the line there will be a pure electric model as well.

Raised butt and Prologue-inspired front end.

Color me interested.

Once again the Autobild render seems to be pretty spot on.

- more room, especially in the back through longer wheelbase than A6
- no more V8 engines for A6 and A7
- more differentiation to A6
- weight loss of 100kg
- based on MLB
- 2L turbo gas and diesel are entry level (around 250 and 280 hp)
- 3L turbo V6 gas and diesel for the middle (around 400 hp)
- plug in hybrids also as gas and Diesel engines (around 450hp)
- top of the line option of V6 with 600 hp
- OLED in the interior as the Prologue concept showed.
- gesture control
- ready for autonomous driving
- summon function available. Audi is currently talking to parking garages to ensure legality of system.

WOW!! This looks like a winner even with the camo. Looks fantastic!

BMW and MB better take care of their respective competitors...

I don't know. I'm actually doubting this info from AMuS a bit. I think the engine lineup will be more conventional and retain the V8 as the top engine choice.

I don't think the RS6/7 will use a 6 cylinder - It will definitely retain the V8

In the very beginning I heard that this will infact be the most beautifull audi ever made

HOLY HELL it just might be. Now imagine this with the RS bodykit, 21" rims and the mad soundtrack of todays RS7, I love the current car and I had my worries, but this is just proof that the next A7 will be even better

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
