Touareg [Spyshots] 2017 VW Touareg Spy Pics & Info

Like the quality and size of interior and no need for bigger engine. Still a very good looking SUV but for me it is overweight and overpriced car.

U Spy The 2019 VW Touareg Testing On The Autobahn

The next-generation Volkswagen Touareg has been scooped testing on the Autobahn prior to its debut later this year or in early 2018.
earlier this year. As such, the front and rear ends are only covered in a thin layer of black and white camouflage, offering us a decent view of the vehicle’s updated exterior.

Generally speaking, the 2019 Touareg will closely resemble the T-Prime GTE Concept revealed at 2016’s Beijing Auto Show. It is also shaping up to look quite similar to the Atlas, albeit with some added style and size.

When the new Touareg lands, it will be available in a number of different configurations, including the option of a seven-seat layout and even a four-seat solution focused on luxury and passenger comfort.

Due to the vehicle’s use of the VW Group’s MLB platform, it should be offered with engines including a 2.0-liter TFSI turbo four, a 3.0-liter supercharged TFSI V6 and a number of 3.0-liter V6 diesels. When production of the SUV ramps up, both a V8 TDI and plug-in hybrid with a 2.0-liter four will be added to the range.

New VW Touareg Confirmed For Pre-November Reveal
The luxury SUV is inching closer to its third generation, one that will be pushed further upmarket.

The all-new Volkswagen Touareg has been a long time in the making and thankfully we won’t have to wait much longer to see it without the annoying camouflage. Speaking yesterday evening at the T-Roc’s big reveal event, the man in charge at the VW core brand, Herbert Diess, announced the official premiere is slated to take place before November when production is set to begin.

A slideshow detailing start of production (SOP) dates for several VW models – including the new Touareg - emerged onto the web several months ago, but it’s nice to have confirmation straight from the company’s head honcho. As usual, assembly of the posh SUV will take place in Bratislava, Slovakia where the closely related Audi Q7 comes to life. It’s also the place where the next Porsche Cayenne will be built, along with the bodies of the much more expensive Bentley Bentayga. There’s a very good reason for that as all four are (or will be in the case of the Cayenne) underpinned by the Volkswagen Group’s flexible MLB Evo platform bound to be used by the Italy-built Lamborghini Urus as well.

Getting back to the most affordable version of the five, the Touareg will adopt a number of discreet styling changes for its next iteration. The most obvious modification compared to its predecessor is going to be at the front where the headlights will meet the grille in the same vein as they do on the lovely Arteon. Thanks to the new underpinnings, it should lose a lot of weight, despite what will likely be a bump in size to enable a more spacious interior.

Speaking of the cabin, it will get the very best VW has to offer considering that unlike the mainstream Atlas, the Touareg is being billed as a luxury model with a price to match its position in the upper class. Plenty of soft-touch materials should find their way inside, along with a bounty of tech that will include everything from a digital instrument cluster to gesture controls to play around with the numerous functions of the infotainment system.

Depending on market, VW will sell the new Touareg with several four and six-cylinder TSI gasoline engines, but we all know the TDIs will account for most of the sales despite the Dieselgate ordeal. A plug-in hybrid derivative carrying the “GTE” suffix is likely in the works as well, but it might not be available from day one. 4Motion should be standard across the range in all markets.

The way things are going in Norway the 2.0 GTE will probably be the one to get. For example almost all the XC90's I see are T8's, it will likely be the same with the Touareg.

This is what I have to live with, with my income in Germany or Sweden I could afford so many awesome cars, in the US I'd be able to afford even better cars, but in Norway I'm stuck 2.0 diesels gurrr

When we can expect reveal of the new model?

Last time I saw spy shots of it in August, it only had camo over the lights. Reveal should be anytime now. It better be cheaper this time around as the current toureg and lacks a 4 cylinder option. It also needs to make commercial sense next to the VW Atlas and Tiguan Allspace.

With Atlas in the States, I don't think we are getting the Touareg.

^ Word on the street is that the Touareg is axed from the US from next year due to the presence of the Atlas, Tiguan and Tiguan Allspace, along with slow sales of the Touareg itself. Article here: VW Touareg Canceled In U.S.

Looking forward to the new model soon. Reveal was mooted for November last I heard.

I had the opportunity to have a close look at VWs' T-Prime GTE Concept (Touareg Concept) at the Volkswagen Forum in Berlin earlier this year. Mighty impressive, I thought. Despite not being at all passionate when it comes to the SUV genre in general.

Since the production Touareg appears to be very close to the concept, it should be quite good (for an SUV).

Any news on this rig? News from a few months ago pointed to production starting/a reveal before the end of November yet here we are approaching the end of the month and not even a peep. They're already late to the game seeing that many of its sister marques have debuted/are about launch MLBevo platform mates [Q7, Bentayga, Cayenne, Urus...].

Curious...

Would be nice if they were allowed to build a version.

Skoda have the Kodiaq which is brilliantly designed, has a big interior and has half the asking price of the Touareg. The VW still has a business case if VW offer it with cheaper 4 cylinder engines.

Kodiaq is a cheaper Tiguan Allspace, it doesn't look as good. I'd like to see a Skoda version of the Touareg with only 4 cylinder engines and a hybrid.

It's getting difficult to work out what I will buy to replace my A6. I need the space, I like big wagons, my wife wants an SUV, the govt a fighting a war on diesel, BEV's don't have the range to fit what we do with our main family vehicle, first world problems I know but it's a dilemma all the same.
