Although it's nice to see that the physical buttons are coming back to the steering wheel, I very much dislike this generation of VW steering wheels. I hate that the audio volume is controlled by buttons instead of a rotary wheel and also the active cc UX is kind of unintuitive.

The car itself is very boring as a VW should be. Nothing surprising here.

Why do people always buy new cars when they are this exciting.

This car raises so much emotion and passion that I want to buy one straight away.

If i wasnt a car guy, id be buying a new car every 15 years and buying the cheapest possible.

I dont get why people with the old tiguan would want to upgrade to a new tiguan. Just seems a waste of money to me

100%

Maybe the people in charge of giving the green light to this design should have placed the current car next to it. Doing so might have made it clear it does not improve the existing Tiguan a single bit. Rather the contrary.

After the stupid looking IDs, VW should really shake its design department.

I predict hard times for these everyday brands like vw, Kia, Peugeot etc.. the threat from China is real.
The cars they are producing (EV) are not much worse to be perfectly honest. In some cases they are even better at certain things. And they are aggressive as f with their pricing and financing. My relatives that work in the car industry say that you don’t know what’s coming it’s scary.

So
Either they up their game / lower prices or see themselves loosing huge chunks of market share.

Why should I pay 20k more for a ID4 over a BYD Atto? I don’t see it justified..

Premium car makers should be fine , the customers are looking for something else which an obscure unknown Chinese brand can’t offer. For now ….

Just what the world needs, an auto industry dominated by China...

I commented on this a few years ago here, (to be prepared there), since in South America they have handled 50% of the market for years now, expect something similar over there, what I do not understand is the "surprise" that some european manufacturers show, nobody here from their representatives here warned them of what was coming?

I think what happens is that there is not much to do, whatever has to happen will happen, as happened with Japan and Korea before but multiplied by 40 China brands (or more, I estimate).

Why the f not.. who gives a shit ?

As long as it’s cheap and good.

Everyday cars or just that , everyday cars.

Meanwhile at Skoda, creativity and pragmatism are coexisting in harmony.

The level of Skoda's interior design has gone up through the roof lately. This looks cosy, sporty and luxurious, all at the same time, without looking cheap, or cheap'ed out like Tesla's latest model 3 interior.

That EV Explorer is quite lovely looking, and indeed way better than the VW inside out.

This new VW is with old ID design cues, and these first gen ID design cues are f'ing horrible.

Why the f not.. who gives a shit ?

American politicians. And their shit are huge piles as we all know...

there is hope

This is what we can expect from VW in the next few years.
I think they have a great lineup to come with this design language.

Now we still have to go along with models to be introduced based on the old design language, Golf 8.1, the new Passat, ID.7 and Tiguan as I said before, it will be very difficult to fix them.

What I like about the VW ID.2 is that they are showing an affordability factor to the industry. For a complete transition to EV, they have to cater to those that would like an EV but can’t afford or indeed the energy costs to charge larger mid-size vehicles especially in Germany where Net Zero has completely failed.
