E-Class (W213) [Spyshots] 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W213)

The W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, sold from 2016 as a 2017 model. It succeeded the W212/S212 E-Class models. The coupe/convertible models share the same platform as the sedan/wagon, in contrast to the previous generation. The high-performance Mercedes-AMG E63 and E63S versions of the W213 have been available as well from 2016 (as a 2017 model), and these are the only versions with V8 engines.

I just hope they step up their game in terms of exterior design. The S-Class came with a BOOM but after that the C-Class happens to be just a carbon copy with 30 cm less. A fantastic design can lose part of its charm if every new car of the brand has the same headlights shape (not even similar, EXACTLY the same shape) and the same profile lines and rear end.

I was expecting the new E-Class to feature a more straight side profile, with a less curvy shoulder line and with the door handles following the glasshouse shape. At least I hope the front and rear ends are not as similar to the S-Class than the C-Class ones.

There are two things the renders suggest, I hope make it to production.
1.The shoulder line that extends all the way to the rear lights, instead of dropping off at the rear door like the C and S. (this will help the E stand out from the pack a little.)

2. Smaller, different shaped taillights from the S and C. The ones used on the W212 area little too large imo.

Yep, I agree, that would be a nice step into the right direction. The second render´s profile makes a lot of sense IMO.

I'd like front to be something like this:

I hope they will give the next CLS some needed sensuality and beautiful styling treatment like the AMG GT. As much as I like the current model I think it is not as good looking as the original CLS and also the BMW 6 series GC

I rekon the next CLS will follow the Coupe styling traits (long tail lights, thin chrome strip) at the back, and the front will be a mix of S Coupe (headlight shape) and E (centre star) nose.

If any of these renderings end up looking like the next E, (especially the coupe) it's going to be a case of shut up & take my money LOL

... or the next CLS can have the first gen exterior styling with state of the art platform and all new engine line up, just saying, i still adore the first gen CLS
For the next e class i hope they don't abandon double head lights design..i somewhat dislike the current front end of the facelift with double lenses, not a real classic double headlights for me, i still prefer the unique pre-facelift design

Next generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class spied testing and carrying production body
Due in 2016
A prototype of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W213) has been photographed while undergoing preliminary testing.

The all-new E-Class is bound to grow in size to better distance itself from the C-Class and despite the increased dimensions it will lose some serious weight as a result of switching to the MRA platform also used by its smaller sibling. Some of the added size will be noticeable in the wheelbase which means there's going to be a more spacious interior cabin with additional legroom for rear passengers.

These are the best spy shots yet of the new E-Class (W213 generation) and although the prototype is wearing a significant amount of camouflage it's easy to notice the design will be influenced by its C- and S-Class brothers.

One of the main novelties the overhauled E-Class will bring is going to be represented by a new family of straight-six gasoline engines which will have displacements ranging from 2.2 to 3.5 liters. Also on the menu could be a 2.9-liter turbodiesel rated at 313 HP (230 kW) and 400 HP (294 kW), as well as hybrid and/or plug-in hybrid setups mixing up 2.0-liter gasoline or diesel engines with an electric motor rumored to develop about 122 HP (90 kW).

The engine lineup will once again be topped by an AMG variant that will likely be equipped with the recently introduced V8 4.0-liter twin-turbo found in the AMG GT and C63 AMG. Some of the engines will probably be offered with a nine-speed automatic gearbox already available on the current generation E350 BlueTEC.

Aside from the standard sedan, it is believed Mercedes-Benz will offer the new E-Class as a long wheelbase sedan, coupe, estate and convertible. The fixed roof derivatives are likely to become sportier whereas the open-top versions are believed to be more luxurious.

According to a report published earlier this year, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class W213 is scheduled to go on sale at home in Germany in March 2016 which could mean an online reveal will occur before the end of next year.

Glad to see the real model starting to show instead of C-class mules. It is looking like an upscalled C-class, I wonder if they still will carry on with the 4 light theme with this model but under one one combined light unit (ala F/L W212).

looks more similar to the W211 than the W212.
I also think so as it has a more rounded greenhouse like the W211 and more raked front end, certainly looks more sportier and perhaps smaller than the W212.
