E-Class W213 [Spyshots] 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W213)

The W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, sold from 2016 as a 2017 model. It succeeded the W212/S212 E-Class models. The coupe/convertible models share the same platform as the sedan/wagon, in contrast to the previous generation. The high-performance Mercedes-AMG E63 and E63S versions of the W213 have been available as well from 2016 (as a 2017 model), and these are the only versions with V8 engines.

Interesting how the render makes the E edgier, when the whole point of the facelift was to make it softer.

I´d say both the C-Cabrio and this new E-Class will ditch the current shoulder line for a less dropping shoulder line with the door handles intergrated rather than above it.

I hate this. For the next 12-18 months we're going to be on pins and needles with all this endless guessing and trying to see through the disguise/camo. It is going to be a long 2015. I predict Geneva 2016 we will see this car, but don't rule out Frankfurt 2015.

The side profile looks different from the C and the S, especially the angle of the rear deck, which is a lot flatter

The rear deck is apparently heavily cladded, as is the hood. A "dropping" rear deck will almost certainly be featured-in perhaps a somewhat diminished form versus the C-Class sedans.

The profile is very sleek and the bonnet appears very long, which is quite nice emphasizing the front grill and lights, which appear flatter and less upright than current E class. The rear seems to have a C class and S class look to its lights but maybe that's the cladding that's disguised the proper look.

I agree with Jimmy its just heavy cladding at the rear you can see the shape will go down if you follow from the roof downwards or maybe I am seeing things..On the shape overall too soon to say but I feel its a bit too close to current E but lets wait and see...I hope rear lights are different from C and S.

here we go again with spy pictures etc ..after the AMG GT teaser fiesta
bring it on amigo

i like the current e-class with the wedge and boxy design, it has character in it and i personally consider the current e-class as one of the best car i had driven

I don't know what MB did to the suspension set up, but the post FL W212 drives remarkably compared to the pre FL vehicle. My dad has a pre FL with AMG sports kit and my uncle has a post FL with AMG sports kit, and the latter literally glides over bumps and surfaces that upset the pre FL vehicle. It's like its a completely different generation of vehicle.

I read somewhere that they did do some suspension mods to the E class when they facelifted it especially the sports suspension versions I think they installed different dampers and maybe softer springs.

Maybe @Wolfgang can give us some details on suspension mods of facelift W212!

The rear overhang is quite large, but overall so far I like what I see. The E-Class has perhaps the most difficult role to fulfil in Benz's sedan line-up. It has to be a handsome executive/luxury saloon whilst at the same time, in its basic spec, it must cater to the needs of the European taxi market. One of the requirements is a large boot (trunk) which unfortunately gives rise to a slightly longer overhang.
Overall the profile seems balanced enough, with the long wheel-base helping in this regard. The greenhouse reminds me a lot of the C-Class.

I don't think this next e class is going to be barroque. I do think the design is going to be very clean and very streamlined.
By now it seams to be like a bigger c class o_O... Even the third side window fits perfectly without any further trasformation ( taken from a c class side view) . I hope it gets its own personality to avoid the copy and paste effect shown in same bmws and audis.

I can´t stand what´s the nice part of having a slight wedge shape and making the door handles follow a reversed wedge shape.

Agreed, looks like all the newer models are turning out this way.
This new language all started with the CLS.
