CLS [Spyshots] 2015 Mercedes-Benz CLS Facelift SpyShots/info

The Mercedes-Benz CLS (initially called the CLS-Class) is a series of executive cars produced by Mercedes-Benz from December 2003 to August 2023. The original model was a four-door sedan based on the Mercedes E-Class platform, marketed as a four door coupé. An estate (shooting brake) model was later added to the model range with the second generation CLS.

Erlkönig erwischt: Aktuelle Bilder vom Mercedes CLS Facelift: Neue Details der Modellpflege für das Oberklasse Coupé erkennbar - Sternstunde

I always liked the CLS in person, love it in AMG form. Sales are neck-and-neck with the Audi A7 here in America so I suppose its polarizing styling hasn't hurt it too much.

I can never find sales figures of the BMW 6-series with the Gran Coupe sales broken out.

The SL, that is going to be really something. They have a lot to do with that car. I can't imagine what it will look like.

Same here can't wait to see the SL and more importantly the SLK as I have an interest in it. 4.0L Biturbo -:)
I suspect the SLC's looks will have a part to play, hence the silence regarding MB's coupe and roadster facelifts.

the true killer competitor for the cls is the new maserati ghibli. who can resist a maserati batch when it costs only a few grand more

I believe this was the lost generation for SL. The first time in a long time that it is not the car I aspire to own. They will have a lot of work, because the car is too top- and overhang-heavy in design, and there is very little that can be done other than being creative with the external trim like they were with the old W140.

They made the right decision. Devalue the brand is the way to go otherwise there will be no brand. Maser just had their best sales year ever here and the cars are still exclusive as hell. They're doing the right thing. Their sales are still a mere slither of what MB/BMW/Audi etc do per year. The price of the Ghibli has not hurt them at all.

With the model SL in my opinion it was fists during much experimenting but too little put heart and taking of it what best from predecessors. Serious facelift and it are needed right away, I think that the Mercedes above it is already working and in the near future we will see the first spy photographs.

That is why Maserati is selling so many more cars now. The Ghibli is great, although I know some people are turned off by its harsh ride and lack of technology, especially compared to the CLS.

Someone who thinks it looks like an Infiniti?

Have you seen it in person? Looks nothing like one.

i think maserati has made a very big mistake in pricing the newer models so close to the e class and 5 series. it devalues the brand

I agree with Merc1 completely.

The Mercedes-Benz SL series is reknown for its' lengthly model cycles. The R107 was produced for some 18 years, the R129 for some 12 years, the R230 for over 10 years. Of course, one can see a pattern here. It is plausible that the current R231 will have a model run FAR shorter than that of the R230. A facelift in 2016 followed by a completely new successor by 2018 would be my guess.

Remember the previous generation actually went through two facelifts....

And the R230 successor was actually delayed for 2 years after the planned introduction date because of production issues with the chassis. It was supposed to only have an 8 year production run.

With M-B currently being immersed in the process of reivention, it would be plausible to anticipate some exciting solutions for the successors of various product lines. A new SL based on a shortened C217 S-Class cabriolet platform, perhaps ? And sharing it with Aston Martin (DB9 successor) ? With speculation regarding the W213 E-Class being offered in 2 door coupe and cabriolet form and an upcoming W205 C-Class "sportback" type of vehicle, will the next CLS be positioned more upmarket ? A C217 based derivative, sharing the platform with Aston Martins' Rapide replacement ?

Says who? SL lasts longer than that, going by history.
And there is nothing complicated on the current SL that would warrant a two year delay. Or the air scarf proved to be more difficult to implement than originally thought, because there is nothing revolutionary about the SL whatsoever :rolleyes::rolleyes:
No new engines, no new gearbox, same folding roof....

With M-B currently being immersed in the process of reivention

What? Come again?

Why bother arguing Klier when you know NOTHING about the situation. Mercedes is on record stating that the car was delayed by 2 years because of complications with the platform engineering which is an aluminium space frame chassis.

This issue has been discussed AT LENGTH on this forum. So get your head out of BMW's ass and read up on it before spewing your usual BS where it's not warranted.
