the problem with the 4,6 V8 TT is that it is almost as powerful as the AMG 5,5 V8 TT, in the stronger configuration it has 700 NM as has the weaker configuration of the 5,5. If they push it a bit it will have easily 800 to 900 NM. I actually think that the 5,5 V8 TT is pretty underpowered because it has so much torque and is almost unusable. I think for the C class 700 NM is the limit and do not forget it gets smaller wheels so has bigger problems putting the power to the road. If they can do 350 PS and 450 - 500 NM from a 2,0 R4 TT an engine with 3,5 - 4,0 litres with 450 - 500 PS and 650 - 700 Nm should not be a problem.

that Larson into your picture really looks retro though I don't. Think the c class is geting a retro design

That's what they already do. The awesome 4.6 TT V8 is the M278. Tune it a little with some AMG mods, and it turns into the M157 with 500+ hp.

Unfortunately that's how it works, leave some stuff out for the facelift about 3-4 years down the road. Thought you as an auto industry insider might know. Intended to keep the automobile fresh over the lifecycle of 7 or so years.
Intentionally getting it wrong so you can make it right in 3-4 years is about the most backassward thinking.

Really? I was unaware that this was the case. So no more original power plants after the 6.3? I assumed because of the displacement, that it was an original block. FWIW, I am no insider. How many threads have I ever started? The retail end is usually the last to know. We have to hunt down the info on sites like this. Occassionally MB will have some "insider" details at a training event. But those are few and far inbetween.

That interior looks really cheap. The screens screams 'cheap afterthought'. Damn, this is very disappointing. There appears to be something wrong every every new Merc these days. Some parts look awesome, and some crappy. Sad :(

There is still hope. I mean, when we saw the leaked F01 7er interior pic in Autobild, we all said it looked like the E90 3er dash, that is was far below the S-Class, and so on. The same thing was said by most of us with the A8 interior in those infamous leaked pics again by Autobild. SLS, Audi A3, and even the new X5.

All these cars showed their interior months before the official reveal. We bashed them and then we saw the press pics. And it tourned out to be that we were too harsh. It´s hard to find a lot of forumers who think the 7er interior looks cheap, or the A8.

That interior right there, with the center console and the trim across the dash in alu, could turn out to look pretty nice. In the end, the A4 interior is nothing special, and the F30 is nice, but nothing extraordinary, at least IMO.

The exterior, on the other hand, is shaping up very nicely, specially the front and the proportions.

we barely see beyond the camo its too early to judge we probably got a whole another year of seeing the W205 run around. the larson render, looks like a good illustration of what we could see of the new C class interior but you can never be so sure

Prototypes of the new C-Class (W205)
Why is it that the W205 diesel engine produces only 170hp with the same 2.2 liter 4 engine compare with the same engine that now has 201hp. By the way, why would MB wait for the W205 to bring over the diesel engine and not now ( 2013MY) , is it because of the new 2014 EPA rule? I notice that BMW would do the same for the 3er. So , next year this time, we will see a flood of diesel cars arrive to the States as of 2014MY. What gives?

Three different tunes are available for this engine in Europe:

C200 CDI 100 kW/135 hp and 360 Nm
C220 CDI 125 kW/170 hp and 400 Nm
C250 CDI 150 kW/201 hp and 500 Nm

The first USA version seems to be the MY 2013 GLK250 BlueTEC. Suspect MBUSA may wish to get some experience with it in this market, with different emission regulations, SCR and diesel fuels, before bringing the higher volume series? ;)

GLK250 BlueTEC 4MATIC (Q1 2013): Debut of diesel powertrain in this model line (first in segment) with 2.1-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine (190 hp, 369 lb-ft) mated to all-wheeldrive powertrain and 19" 5-triple-spoke wheels

Wow, the MY 2013 GLK250 BlueTEC engine is detuned to 190hp only? I guess the new W205 C will be 190hp too, since BMW will bring the new diesel engine for the 3er which produces 184hp ( 2l, I4 ).

2014 Mercedes C-Class W205 Getting New Engines, Double Clutch, 4Matic

Mercedes Benz is quietly creating a brand new compact car range to rival the new BMW 3-Series. This new C-Class family will go by the name W205, and very little is known other than speculation that it’s lighter and bigger than the W204.

But German magazine Autobild has scooped the new Mercedes C-Class in a big way. According to them, the car will be launched with a double-clutch automatic and will offer 4Matic on a lot of models in the range.

Speaking of the models, the base versions of the C-Class will use A-Class engines, The C180 will have the 1.6-liter turbo with 156 PS, while the C200 and C250 will use a 2.0-liter turbo-four with 184 PS and 211 PS. There will also be a new 2.0-liter powered C300 with 252 PS. The hot new motor for the petrol range will be the C400, which will be a 333 PS 3.0-liter V6, presumably also a turbo.

Contradicting rumors that the M157 5.5-liter will be used in the AMG version, Autobild says the C63 will have a new 4.0-liter with 462 PS. This sounds a bit strange but at the same time pleasing to us, since the a detuned M157 would have been too heavy.

Moving on to the diesels, there will be three versions that use the 2.2-liter turbo setup in total, the C220 with 170 PS, the C250 CDI with 204 PS and the new C300 CDI BlueTec Hybrid with 231 PS. The range-topper will C400 CDI 3.0-liter with 258 PS.

Mercedes’ U.S. Chief Confirms New C Class Convertible

Talk of a new convertible version of the Mercedes-Benz C Class dates back several years, and in fact has been previously confirmed by Motor Authority. However, the CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA, Steve Cannon, has now finally stated that the car is in the works and will be offered for local sale.

Currently, the cheapest Mercedes convertible is the E Class Cabriolet, which starts at close to $60k. A C Class convertible, which is likely to be called the C Class Cabriolet, will be priced closer to the C Class Coupe’s starting price of $37,800.

Cannon made the revelation during an interview with USA Today. He also said that Mercedes would add 11 brand new models and refresh or replace 19 existing models in its U.S. lineup by 2020.

For the German automaker, the launch of the new C Class Cabriolet is part of its overall strategy to lure younger buyers to the brand by offering smaller and more affordable models. We’re also going to see a new CLA Class four-door coupe positioned below the C Class range, as well as a crossover variant likely to be called the GLA Class.

Another of the new models Cannon is referring to is an extra-long version of the next-generation S Class, which will add an extra 10 inches to the wheelbase of the regular S Class and will likely be called a Pullman. It will serve as the replacement for the failed Maybach range.

Others new models are likely to include the S Class Cabriolet that we recently spied, an electric version of the B Class, as well as a BMW X6 rival based on the M Class and tipped to be called the GLS Class. As for the new C Class Cabriolet, it will be based on the next-generation C Class due sometime in 2014. In addition to the regular sedan and the convertible, a coupe will return, as will high-performance AMG versions. It’s not clear if Mercedes will bring the wagon version other markets will enjoy.

Underpinning the new C Class range will be Mercedes’ MRA (Modular Rear-wheel Architecture) platform, which debuts next year in the new S Class. A turbocharged four-cylinder engine is expected in the base model, while a V-6 and possibly new diesel and hybrid options will also be offered.

The convertible will likely be launched about one year after the sedan.

I really wish that we could get these magazines here in the states because they give you information on the future MB models which not too many magazines do in the US

And I really wish that render is as wrong as it gets, b/c if it's right, the W205 will be a CLS front sticked to the W204 ass
