CLS [Spyshots] 2011 Mercedes-Benz CLS - First Photos without Camouflage

The Mercedes-Benz CLS (initially called the CLS-Class) is a series of executive cars produced by Mercedes-Benz from December 2003 to August 2023. The original model was a four-door sedan based on the Mercedes E-Class platform, marketed as a four door coupé. An estate (shooting brake) model was later added to the model range with the second generation CLS.

Last C219 to leave the assembly line, coming to America:

I'm guessing the C218's are already being assembled behind it?

There will be no parade to rain on. No way the A7 gets any sort of parade with that lame design both inside and out.

But still; this is a major debut for Audi and there's been lots of hype surrounding the A7...but I guess it's too late now. Hopefully MB will show us some pics in the next couple of weeks.

Just really noticed the "New BMW" style bonnet shutline, which is unfortunate.... Or should I say "EU Regulation" style bonnet shutline.

Yes, new EU regulation.

Its looks very nice. I see some S Class lines in it. It is more sedan-like, and does not look as a slug, as the previous CLS. Very beautiful, just waitng for inside pics. Also nice to see full LED headlights. It is very much better than A7. I really wonder who will buy A7, except.....(you know who I mean)

I already commented that I love the interior. Exterior looks very good, nice evolution to that of the current mode:usa7uh:l....headlights looks after market, poor and busy/fuzzy design:eusa_doh:

O/T, but is anyone else aware that starting 2011, M-B is using a disgusting and pathetic HONK as their alarm sound? To replace the "Chirp" that's so befitting a Luxury Car, especially.

What's going on with them I sometimes wonder, while certain things keep getting better, putting a "Honk Alarm", akin to a 90's Ford or something on a Benz would have never happened years ago. It kinda worries me as to what little details will be cut out in years to come/i.e where they're going with that.

Even the SLS has it apparently.

Anyone know if it's a cost cutting move, or a Legal thing now? As small-beans as it sounds, it makes me damn happy I opted for a 2010. :t-hands:

Ohhhhh, I noticed that K-A and I cringe every time I hear it when someone is unlocking/locking their MB. I thought the W212 had it because I think it started with the W204 C-Class. What was wrong with the blinking lights??

I think you can turn it off, but it is annoying and I hate it.

It might be a legal thing though because for some, blinking lights isn't enough of a conformation for them.

Yeah, it's really disconcerting.

I heard you can turn it off, but why not include that nice "fancy" little "Chirp" that is a requirement for ALL Luxury Cars? Are they being that friggin' cheap?

My Malibu "Honks" when you press the Alarm button twice, and I definitely notice the nice little "Chirps" that my Benz makes when it greets me. :)

A Mercedes used to have a very distinctive horn...it was annoying and that was the point. I have no idea what they sound like now.

M

Looks okay, but based on the pictures, looks lower-level than the W212's in those areas we've seen, not as nice of a Vent shape, and the A/C Unit being right above that curving angle doesn't look too great IMO, and it seems to be the cheapo unit from the C, not even using the E's?

Anyway, I'm sure it'll look good once it all comes together, and no doubt the materials will be softer and more elegant than the E's.
