VAG is taking a MAJOR gamble, certainly. Personally, my novice premonition is telling me that thi...

While I certainly do not share you enthusiasm for the VAG Group and for Audi in particular, I do see your point. Cars like the ID.3, ID.4 and the rumored ID.1 will probably seel like hot cakes in 3-4 years. Audi, with products like the Q4, E-Tron GTS (the A5 replacement) and the E-Tron GT are going to take a good slice of the cake as well. And, as always, Porsche, which is the top brand of the group, making the next Macan and 718 EVs is going to give a good lesson to the rivals as well.

MB will have the EQS, EQA and EQE but, with the exception of the first one maybe, I can't see them on the same level as Audi or Porsche. The ID.4, Q4 and the Macan EV are going to be such a hit IMO.

That render doesnt look good at all. They made it have the same lower intake with silver mesh as the GLS Maybach, which looks a bit odd in my opinion.

they are films already seen, but on the other hand if apparently everything has been blocked as it should be ......

Sorry if this was answered before. Will the S come with 2 styles of door handles? regular and the pop out version or will it only be offered with pop out handles?

Second, for anyone who has seen it in person, regarding the side mirrors, I can see the turn signal looks different but the shape of the mirrors, is it different than anything in the current lineup? or something similar on some model?

Also will the car receive different grill designs? Will it get the upside down "angry grill"? or will it be like the GLS, only one shape and size but different inserts?

Finally, some renders are showing the light strip on the top of the lights in 2 pieces, I suspect this is false? anyone who has seen it know? thanks

A lot of what you're asking is not known yet. I suspect the pop-out handles will be an option and regular door handles will be standard. No light strip unfortunately, there were spy shots where you could see exposed little bits of a regular chrome bar just like the W222 has.

Video of this not so impressive render

The current maybach in the beginning of the video looks so much better than the rendering of the next one. The new headlight design seems like SUCH a step back.

What do you think, because of the virus, Mercedes will delay the launch of the S-Class?[/QUOTE...

I think so, but perhaps for a different reason than you think. I think Mercedes still had some last minute tweaking to get done ahead of launch that has been stalled due to the workforce not operating at 100%.

I bet that they will delay it. And not only due to the fact that the workforce is a problem right now , but also the clients will be low right now.

Car dealerships in the states I live in were ordered closed due COVID-19 as they are considered “non-essential”, so sales are zero across all brands (Hyundai to Bugatti) in one of the world’s largest automotive markets by volume and profit. No one knows how long this will last.

It’s really in nobody’s interest to market launch any new car right now.

Good points.

Its a very unfortunate time for Mercedes to try and introduce their flagship as a huge recession will be occurring from now on, and most likely most potential customers will not be keen to spend money on a mega luxury car.

This all reminds me of 1991 when the W140 was introduced. That was also in time of a recession and the W140 sales were probably affected at the time.

I do think the W223 will be delayed to either the end of 2020 or early 2021.

You are right, world is heading to a bad economic slow down, especially for all major S-Class markets like China, US, Europe & Middle East. Mercedes can think of delaying 223 premier as W222 is strong enough to continue its life cycle.
