This was design sketches for the U-class. I think it is too bold and avant-garde for the W223, maybe In a another generation change in 2028 it might be appropriate

It was the same student project as Uber Class to be placed above S-Class when he conceptualised it. It's not sure whether MB has accepted nor any plan to follow it. But some sketches has strong & bold stance if considering a separate Maybach model.

The electric S-Class takes longer than expected. The new edition of the top model should start in 2020 initially only with internal combustion engine, before the year following the electric drive. Reasons for the delays are in addition to technical problems, among other bottlenecks in the batteries. At first, Daimler did not comment on the information on request. On Monday evening, a spokesman said, "We're on schedule, there are no delays in EQC and S-Class."

As per the quote in above article is the electric S-Class a separate EQ-'S' model or just an electric powered variant of regular S-Class. Will there be two flag ships as S-Class & EQ-S?

As far as I know, they’re separate models. The EQS will be shorter as well, but interiorwise just as roomy as the S.

It looks like an evolution of W222 especially the rear desk. The front lights look realistic but the grill i think will be different and have a more thicker chrome surround.

To be frank - front end is a big NO. Grille & head lights doesn't appeal for S-class.

The render looks a bit off I think.
Starting with the horrible shut-line that does not meet the grill.
The headlights of the render are from the AMG GT graphic which will not happen.
The triple eyebrow DRLs might be carried over to the 2020 S. (usually the face-lift gives indications of the new model)
(All C based models feature single eyebrows/ E, double/ S, triple. (next generation GLS shows triple drls.)

Just came back from a Mercedes-Benz technology thing and they had one in the crash lab - from what I could make out the grille will have this shape - it’s definitely different. Perhaps even a bit bigger than in this render.

That grill just doesn't look Mercedes to me, more like copy of another brand like Hyundai Equus

I wouldn’t say I saw that much of it - just bits of it. It was mostly covered and others had no doors or front section - so pretty hard to say how it’ll be. They had one with interior seats - either they were the seats of an E class -or it’ll have seats similar to the E .... that’s seriously all I can say - it’s not like they revealed it - was just bits laying around, otherwise I guess we wouldn’t have been allowed in those areas.
