It's always hard to tell what it's going to look like. I don't think the exterior is going to be a big change, but the interior will be. Hopefully Mercedes doesn't take it overboard with touch screens. I'd like to see them focus on making the car even higher quality, not that the W222 isn't high quality now, but a clear emphasis on the interior and every bit of it, higher quality would be nice.

Couldn’t agree more as on your remark regarding touchscreens. If they do aply touchscreens, than I hope there’s an alternative like a perfect functioning voicecontrol, wich controls everything, so I don’t have to use those screens at all.
Furthermore, I’d like the drive to be (even) more comfortable. They could enhance the airsuspension with magic body control as standard.

Fabulously grand proportions as always! Cannot wait for this car. I suspect by the time it gets to the end of its lifecycle it will be fully autonomous.

The only thing we can say is that proportions remain as good as ever.

I just hope this thing has its own style and does not feature the same lights or lines as every other car in the line up.

The W222 has been a home run, it will be dofficult to top.

The large plastic cladding plateau veils a seemingly very low, sloping hoodline. Highly dynamic for a large luxury-segment 3-box sedan. Thin, horizontal taillamps also appear to be a given. The proportions of the architecture appear immaculate.

Oh God finally some new spy pics.

As said above by you guys, its only the proportion we can comment with this pics, may the shoulder line toom, which are as usual great looking. Body would be more cleaner and curvy like the recent Maybach concepts Vision 6 & UL. Radiator grille also seems to be larger is size.

Will it grow by size? from the pics can't really understand it.

It might be a little surprising to see big changes once this new one is revealed.
The tail lights look like they will indeed be horizontal. The white reflectors and protrusions on the bootlid might reflect this.

The big changes will be in the grill and headlights compared to the current one. The S-Class has always followed the A-Class in basic headlight shape (that example can be seen here; with slight changes in graphics. I think that will be the case again. The "forward-looking" graphic can almost be seen in the headlight shape with a modified grill like the Maybach concept that follows the new headlight graphic.

The wheels will be pushed to the corners further with shorter overhangs and slightly wider front fenders combined with a sleeker profile. The package will look sleek and trim with a touch of sport dialed in. The W220 S-Class with its "lighter side" might be reborn with the W223 as the W222 with its heft is reminiscent of the W140 somewhat.

An interesting point, this has always funnily enough been the case and also the CLS has been a somewhat preview of future S class design too..

This has always been one serious product planning flaw by MB maybe due to lifecycle clash reasons which somewhat diminishes the anticipation and excitement of a new S class, because you can always kind of guess the new design by combining the A and CLS class..the S should always lead design idioms in the MB range imo, not lesser models..

I believe the headlights of the S-Class will be in line with the Maybach SUV ones, although not as slim.

The resemblance with the A-Class will be on the side profile, where it seems MB is applying the same very high and subtle shoulder line to the GLE as well.

The rear will be a more elegant version of the CLS one in the same way the W222 rearlights resembled the previous CLS.

^ Hadn't thought about that before, but you're quite right. All the others in the segment have split rear lights.

Y'all forgot pre W220 S-Class' .

Actually pre W140 era - 140 had one piece tail light with just a silver strip below boot line. Even though all the previous models hav horizontal lights they werent split type.

Any how horizontal tail light which run throughtout the rear end would b way better as seen in concepts
