S-Class W223 [Spy Shots] Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W223) Spy Shots and Info

The Mercedes-Benz W223 is the seventh generation of the S‑Class full-size luxury sedan, produced by Mercedes-Benz since 2020. It replaces the W222 S‑Class which had been produced since 2013.

The more I see photos, the more I am convinced this interior will be epic in terms of styling, just like the W222's was (pure personal opinion).

In terms of tech or man/machine interface, it is not going in the right direction as far as I am concerned : my partner drives an A250 AMG pack hatch and, while I like the styling in and out, I simply hate its tech, I am more of a button type of guy (did you say 42 yo old fart ?).

The fake plastic stuff around the driver screen is quite surprising : I have never seen a car manufacturer go that extra mile of faking its dashboard on prototypes just to confuse us. It is of course the norm when it comes about hiding the body shapes or details but the dashboard ? It has to be really special for them to disguise it that well.

Anyway I love that dashboard slant we can start to notice around the start/stop button and I have a feeling of infos displayed on 2 levels : not sure about the driver screen but something interesting is going on right at the dashboard end, where it joins with the windshield base.

sure that the upper part of the dashboard arouses a lot of curiosity. my opinion is that I don't think the screen behind the steering wheel is temporary and, someone said, it can be tilted forward with the engine off, so to speak, like a PC screen, however, as you can see from the spy photos, there could be above the top frame The place for HDU. We have to see how the Mercedes designers managed to fit everything in a linear and harmonious way and with a sense of moltyo as Sinkwitz says.

It's pretty sure that there will be a tablet like digital instrument cluster. Mercedes have already used the same type of two split screen in their flagship truck. Also have seen in the new models from new A to GLS-classes tablet like screen. So it's very clear that 223 will also have similar screen. But to make it more attractive and premium we can expect some kind of HUD or wider screen upwards the dash.

I wonder why Mercedes is not considering a curve screen instead of this tablet like in Taycan, for S-Class we expect the latest and top techs.

How ever I don't think 223 will have 'Mirror Cam' instead of ORVM as there is screen option seen on dash for camera based rear view mirror like in Lexus LS & E-Trons

@hannaz, I also immediately thought of their flagship truck, as soon as I saw the first spy photos of the interior of the new s-class, so much to see the effect it had. I agree 100% with you that a curved screen like TAYCAN would have been a masterpiece, that is, I want to say something completely different, good.

While we haven't seen that gold car before, we've seen this with similar camo already:

I must admit, I lament the inability to hide the upgraded driver assistance equipment more successfully. It's more obvious than ever in the finished product compared to previous generations.

On the interior front, I think once people are seated in the car they will enjoy how the reorientation of the screens increase the feeling of space in the interior, a theme taken to a relative extreme in the EQS.

How does sticking a huge tablet that rises from the center console and meets the dashboard, increase the feeling of space in the interior? Doesn't it achieve the exact opposite?

You can see the rear door panel pretty clearly and also looks to have wood trim on the back of the doors.

Door panels look very plain.

The huge screen cowl of the current gen creates a vertical cliff face across the front of the cabin that's at uniform height from the driver to the center of the vehicle. As you can see in the pictures of the W223, the center tablet screen does not reach up as high as the instrument cluster and its tilted away from you. The way the dash falls behind the instrument cluster and center tablet screen further contributes to the airiness.

The rear reminds me of the tapered rear end of the C216 CL/S Couple.

Also- how come no one has commented on the rear door panel yet? You may find it interesting that MB, much like the rear cabin environment of the Bentley Flying Spur, is beginning to use wood more sparingly.

Not crazy about the wood trim reduction. I guess current trends dictate wood trim as being archaic, but I prefer to see "uniqueness" of the wood grain rather than the uniformity of piano black, alu or CF trim.

One might argue that while a tablet's display occupies the same width and height as a conventional button/dial control panel, there need be as much of the dash that needs to supply wiring, etc. to a touchscreen tablet. That area can then be used for an open storage. I am still not crazy for touchscreen replacing the tactility of well-dampened buttons, switches, knobs, etc. But I am old-fashioned in many ways.

We are almost getting there!

What video is that from?

Maybe I'll change my mind later, but I am not digging the piano black bits on side mirror housing.

Just came across this video which was up 2 days before and in that Ola Källenius is saying that S-Class is coming up this year itself.
