Exactly what @Luca said last page. Based on MRA2, Airmatic and MBC are being revamped
I also took the trouble to read the article published on JSMB, it is not of recent date and I quote verbatim "the release of sales will take place in September 2020 and the launch on the market in November 2020, overall the class if 'about 4-6 months behind schedule. " Among other things, confirms the two types of door handles, and a screen behind the steering wheel of 12.3 inches..

The article is from 29th of march. It says that everything is postponed by 4-6 months. It should be the absolute benchmark, suspension struts should be connected to the 48 volt system so when the Pre-safe thinks there is an accident going to happen the car can be raised. The interior should be based on a new interior concept with 3D buttons, it is based on OLED technology and it was shown already on the w222 door panels. It should be able to order it with the Level 3 autonomous driving - on highways up to 130km/h. New lights with 1 milions small mirrors in a main headlamp, the digital light - capable of projecting warnings on the street ahead. The long wheelbase will come with a new rear wheel steering capable of until now unseen angles. The engines - R6 diesel in S350 and S400, R6 petrol - S 450 and S 500 with 48 volt ISG and 22 PS, V8 petrol with 48 volt ISG and 22 PS. There should be also a R4 petrol and two plug in hybrids - R4 and R6 with a large battery capable of more than a 100 km drive on electricity alone.

jesmb.de is usually a reputable source
I am not convinced by their article as they mentioned the following which is false.

"The new S-Class W223 is based on MRA2 (Mercedes rear-wheel-drive architecture). The current S-Class W222 is still based on the bodyshell of the W221 and does not enjoy the advantages of the current MRA modular system with lightweight construction. "

The W222 is not based on the W221 and it has a hybrid aluminium body shell with full aluminium sheet doors, bonnet, bootlid and roof. The current MRA chassis used in the C-class and E-class is not lightweight, if you look at the weight of the E-class it is heavier than rival 5-series models and it doesn't use as much lightweight materials as the S-class.

From the below article.

autozine.org/Archive/Mercedes/new/S_W222.html

While the dimensions are not significantly different, the chassis is a different story. Its front chassis is constructed entirely of aluminum alloy, including the crash structure, side members, suspension tower brackets and diagonal reinforcement beams. From firewall rearward the chassis is constructed in steel – mostly hot-formed high-strength steel, as it ensures the passenger cell to be more rigid than what aluminum can achieve. Outside, all the skins are pressed aluminum sheets, including the bonnet, boot lid, fenders, door shells (as before) and now also the roof panel.

Thanks to the new chassis construction, its torsional rigidity is lifted significantly from 27500 to a class-leading 40500 Nm/degree. As I know only Rolls-Royce Phantom (also 40500 Nm/degree) and a few carbon-fiber supercars can match or exceed it. It goes without saying that a rigid chassis benefits NVH suppression as well as handling and ride. Simultaneously, the new car is able to undercut the old car slightly on scale. For example, the new S500 is 15 kg lighter than before at 1920 kg DIN, while S350 Bluetec is 40 kg lighter at 1880 kg. You can see more weight saving measures from the diagram below. Theoretically, these measures would have cut the kerb weight by 95 kg if not the added luxury features offset most of the saving.

That's not always the case. The more rigid the higher the frequency in which the resonance occurs. This is a very complex matter that is influenced also not only by the rigidity but also of the type of material. Harder chassis=less squeacks but harsher resonance.

Totally agree, a stiffer and more rigid chassis does not automatically ensure better NVH or improved ride and handling unless the its combined with more efficient sound deadening materials, reduced wind noise interference(improved aerodynamics) , quieter exhaust, engine and powertrain as well as spring/damper settings and tyres used etc.

Rolf, they are absolutely correct in saying that the W222 is still using the W221 platform. It is not on MRA. They updated the old platform and used a variety of methods [as you noted] to decrease weight and NVH. We already had this discovery many years ago as the W222 debuted.

I do not dislike this render, but it appears certainly less majestic than the W222.

I have the feeling I will get used to the new interior philosophy (my partner drives a W177 A250 AMG pack, nice car but I am certainly no geek and of course prefer buttons over screens) but loosing that majestic W222 stance, if proven, will be sad.

But then, I remember it is an S Class, a category Mercedes-Benz cannot mess with... the more this thread continues the more am I confused.

.Sorry, do any of you know what happened to Hartmut Sinkwitz? I know that in 2015 he was head of the Mercedes interior. Is it still?

No idea how anyone could like that render. I think it’s high time we assume that the car will look worse than the W222. There’s no way those bulbous, roundish headlights with a single led strip will look better than those in the current car. Maybe the taillights will look more modern but I have a hard time believing they will possess that classy, regal look. Splitting the two screen set up and putting a huge iPad with thick borders in the center console ? Not a good idea either.

It is what is.
