^ Looks like the dual clutch transaxle carries over from the SLS? :)

"Before hitting local roads surrounding AMG’s engineering warren in Affalterbach, Germany, Moers provided a guided tour of his camouflaged test car. Under coercion, he revealed that the GT carries over the SLS’s floor, A- and B-pillars, doorsills, front suspension, and Getrag seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transaxle."

It was obvious it's based on the SLS. It carries so much over that it makes me curious how much of an improvement CAN this car be over the SLS.
A Turbo could make it faster but handling and feel is where it matters to me. Hopefully there will be some serious weight savings compared to the current car.

The SLS itself posted notable improvements over each of its own previous iterations, so I would not be surprised if the improvement was significant.

You mean the original Gullwing? It's the only other iteration I can think of.
Yes it is indeed a significant improvement in terms of speed and technology.
I'm keeping my hopes down with this new "911 killer".
This way I'll be easier to impress :)

I hope they use a little more of the Black series suspension tuning than the regular SLS. While it's nice to be able to burn rubber on command, I don't want to burn rubber when I don't want to. That was my main issue with the SLS.

I meant the SLS GT over the original and then the BS over the SLS GT. The tweaks did not involve nearly the update the GT AMG will have, yet were so noticeable.

I ran across what is probably the prototype GT that Wolfgang posted in #1102 yesterday evening, probably coming back from Pikes Peak. In real life and on the road, especially looking in your rear view mirror at the front of the GT, it is very low and very wide. The other recent pictures of the three AMG GTs testing together were taken at Loveland Pass, so there are quite a few of these prototypes running around Colorado at the moment.

Yes lets hope they reveal some of the AMG GT today!!

If MB were going to be revealing any more of the GT at the German Grand Prix, they wouldn't be waiting until Sunday's race time. They would do it on Friday at the start of the weekend to get maximum exposure.

AMG GT world premiere on 09 September 2014 - public debut at the Paris Motor Show
The AMG GT makes its world premiere now rather than we had expected. The world premiere of the C190 series will take place on 09 September 2014, but then only for invited media representatives at the factory. The audience and show premiere will take place on the Paris Motor Show (October 4 to 19 2014) instead.
